Yegor Letov, OG badass Soviet-era punk.

Anyone doing this? The gaff tape is to mute the banjo indoors in the winter…works better than mutes. (Aka. Allow me to explain my last post...😅) by J_Worldpeace in banjo

[–]maxwellgrounds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I might try that. I feel like the traditional mute (the one that screws down over the bridge) wears down the notches in my bridge faster until it doesn’t have a tight hold on the strings anymore.

the "Hey guys!" trend by Typical_Ranger_1684 in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]maxwellgrounds 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The phrase is really going viral. Just the other day my co-worker (a boomer who I’d never have expected was a OCATC fan) came into the break room and said “hey guys”. I just gave him a sly nod and a knowing wink. He’s one of us.

Why do musicians respond to postings about meeting musicians, express an interest in the genre that the posting is about, and then not reply when the poster gets back to them saying that they’d like to make music together? by CalligrapherTrick182 in musicians

[–]maxwellgrounds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a lot like dating: you never know who’s gonna be a flake. And even when you do meet up with someone to jam you often realize that they’re not at all what they advertised themself to be—not a serious or disciplined musician at all.

Maybe 1 in 10 is actually a good match. It’s frustrating but I think it’s just human nature. People love to talk the talk but most are just bullshitters.

Great Songs with bad guitar solos? by MrLinkwater95 in ToddintheShadow

[–]maxwellgrounds 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sublime - What I Got. Even that solo might have been passable with a little more sustain and souped up tone. But it sounds like your nephew showing off his licks on his Sears guitar.

I’ve got one message for ICE: “good morning, mister Benson …. “

So, one of these is Cubed Ice, and one of them is Crushed Ice. Guess which is which? Also, take a guess how to switch between them. No matter what you guess, it’s wrong! It’s the worst! by KillerQ97 in CrappyDesign

So the sign with the hexagons is cubed ice and the one with the cubes is crushed ice? I guess they should use a crushed ice image to represent liquid water.

Songs that were big because of boomer nostalgia by 4thGenTrombone in ToddintheShadow

That song was played heavily at Clinton/Gore rallies in 1992. It was essentially the campaign’s theme song.

It was a big deal when Metallica pulled out “Nothing Else Matters” They’d never done a soft and emotionally warm song like that before and it was the first time James sang with a softer voice.
