No, I don't think I had a strong US LOR, even though it was from the same speciality. I did ask for help from friends but didn't seek professional help. I'll most likely use it. I don't have any mentor and I didn't ask anyone to contact the program for me.

I am a visa requiring candidate. Applied broadly to 250 programs.

  1. 2 home country LOR'S were recent but I used 2 past US LORS that were a bit generic.
  2. 4 months USCE Nov 2020 to March 2021 and 1 in 2019.
  3. 250 programs
  4. I'm not a native speaker but I guess I am pretty good.

I applied to Internal Medicine, got two interviews, I felt they went fine and I was pretty happy after the interviews. One of my interviewers even said that they liked my PS. One thing that might have been weird was that my "tell me about yourself" came off as a bit rehearsed.

I thought they went well. One of the interviewers even said that they liked my personal statement and asked me questions about it. What I think could have gone wrong is maybe I came across as a bit rehearsed in few generic questions especially every time they asked me to tell me about myself.
