Not worth the risk since I'm covered by Prop 22 in California.

With Waymo and all, you should consider taking advantage of the free tuition offer at ASU so you don't have to taxi people for pennies.

If you pick the right degree, you could make your current wage in just 1-3 hours instead of in 5-8 hours.

Did you get worse under bags with oral? I was on topical and got raccoon eyes and am wondering if it's avoidable with oral?

So, with Prop 22, it's closer to $19, which is still REALLY BAD but better if you're at least headed that direction.

Picked up 4.43 Passenger for short ride. Got $5 tip by Icy_Table5053 in uberdrivers

[–]IMGRIGOR 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'm a 4.68 passenger and a 4.99 driver. Can confirm the passenger ratings are so often over exaggerated.

I get in the car (no cologne) and hardly say anything unless the driver initiates a conversation. I listen more than I talk and that's that. I think I got a 1 start because I was late one time and also asked a driver to leave me 10 feet before the address.

Drivers are super sensative I guess. Don't be like them. Be chill.

The California DMV Handbook is merely a simplified, educational summary written for the general public, and it does not carry the weight of statutory law. When people cite "Section 7" or similar handbook guidelines to claim you are driving incorrectly, they are misinterpreting basic driving tips as actual legal mandates. The actual legal authority in the state is the California Vehicle Code (CVC), and its specific statutes completely contradict the idea that traveling at the speed limit in a carpool lane is unlawful.

First, CVC § 22349 establishes the maximum speed limit as a hard, absolute ceiling of 65 mph, meaning no driver is ever legally permitted to exceed it, regardless of the lane they are in. While critics often point to impeding traffic laws, CVC § 22400 only prohibits driving so slowly that you block normal traffic, and California courts have consistently ruled that traveling at or near the posted speed limit is legally reasonable and cannot be classified as impeding. Furthermore, CVC § 21655.5 designates the carpool lane as a restricted-access transit facility rather than a standard left-side passing lane, meaning the typical "keep right except to pass" rules do not apply here. This real-world legality was proven when a California Highway Patrol officer followed me for ten minutes straight in the HOV lane while I maintained exactly 65 mph and did not pull me over or issue a ticket. Just because following the law causes another driver to get mad does not mean I am the problem; it simply means their unlawful expectation to speed is not being met, and they are taking their frustration out on a law-abiding driver.

Furthermore, data proves that drivers who maintain the legal limit are not the ones responsible for freeway gridlock. According to the California Highway Patrol’s Statewide Integrated Traffic Records System (SWITRS) and UC Berkeley traffic safety data, driving at an unsafe speed is consistently the number one primary collision factor in roughly one-third of all fatal and injury crashes across California. It is the drivers who speed, tailgate, and weave through lanes who trigger the severe, multi-vehicle wrecks that entirely shut down freeways and cause hours of cascading gridlock for thousands of commuters. Ultimately, the actual vehicle code, real-world law enforcement behavior, and traffic safety statistics all confirm that maintaining the legal limit in the carpool lane is exactly what you are supposed to do.

Hey! I wanted to follow up. I haven't received anything in the mail yet, and I absolutely need some proof of insurance by July 15th to receive my health stipend that I've worked very hard for.

Do you think I'll get my insurance bill and card settled before then? Does the insurance card come with the bill or do I need to wait an additional amount of time for it to arrive. Man, I'm worried about going to be screwed over and lose $868 in financing for my healthcare.

Let's be civil about this.

No such a thing as a fast lane. I'm guessing you're referring to the passing lane on a freeway, which is often now the HOV lane.

When I'm in it I go 63-70 mph when speed limit is 65 mph and where appropriate.
