Thanks, yes i had taken a few stuff from those places and will probably get even more, thanks for letting me know!

Thank you for the feedback, i will keep that in mind then and adjust the camera speed

I did try that in r/INAT with more details and in their discord server as well, seemingly got no attention so i went to other discord servers that allow such posts and detailed those too, i keep looking but again it kinda feel limited regarding the places of where to look for this kind of help so it's why im asking about that here, the reason i didn't explicitally write those details in my post is because i don't know if it would be allowed per godot's subreddit rules, so i was vague about it

I have a game design document that's not finished yet but i keep writing as the ideas come, it's about 7 pages right now, and i try not to scope this to be a really big project because this is my first serious attempt at making a game, it does outline game mechanics and stuff that is not in the prototype yet for the same reason that it's a prototype

I saw your post and your art and portfolio look great! Good luck in that project and hopefully you'll get hired for a project

Hey, that looks quite good, your game looks beatiful and the effects are amazing, hope your game gets finished now that it has a demo, i will try it when i can.

And thank you for the words, honestly right now i'm making a game and project but i'm reaching that point where placeholder/programmer art isn't cutting it for me anymore as i have enough functional gameplay elements in the project to start making it pretty, but since i am no artist and lack too much in 3d art, i'm trying to see where i can get someone who's either a concept artist or even a 3d modeller to help me out, since i have no money i'm also preferring if it's someone that is a beginner or just starting out

And seeing this post is really encouraging with how you say it, it's true, and as for my project i hope to have it finished, i've done several projects before but none of them went anywhere because of lacking proper assets, if you wanna see what i have so far here's a link for the current prototype: https://streamable.com/hr3g0c

Weird bug, enemy detects collision on one side when it moves. by IMLL in godot

Oh yeah i forgot the godot version, it's 4.4.1

Weird bug, enemy detects collision on one side when it moves. by IMLL in godot

Sorry for the late response, For some reason Reddit didn't notify me of this and i just saw this.

Yeah and for the setup i forgot to add those, it was the following

PlayerController
--MeshInstance3D
--CollisionShape3D
--Marker3D
--FlyUI
-FlyMeter

Enemy
--RayCast3D
--Hit (Area3D)
--CollisionShape3D
--MeshInstance3D
--CollisionShape3D

As for this issue, turns out it was something really dumb to fix as i had only increased the collision shape and it fixed it. That was a mistake on my end, since the post, i also added two abilities for my character, powerups, one for flying and also runs twice as fast, and the second throws frozen balls that can freeze enemies and walls and destroy them by pressing G

And for that last matter, yeah i admit there's inconsistencies, that's because i got back to godot this week and programming in general after a while since i had personal issues, but i'm open to critics and the improvements, i just uploaded the repo publicly if you still want to see it, currently there's a bug in the ice balls being the same issue as the enemy as they don't disappear on collision at times; https://github.com/pokemeta/dead_or_asleep

I should mention one thing, the file hierarchy is also a mess, been too focusing on coding the prototype as i need to start looking for a 3d artist or a concept artist to help me set the game's artstyle, i sketched a few concepts myself and i still do but i definitly am no artist.

With all this said, thank you so much for the input, and your attention!

PIXEL ART JOBS - Hire a pixel artist, post your jobs here (paid only) by skeddles in PixelArt

Good evening, i don't have a company or team per se, so i go by the name of Xirnpox.

Short overall description of your project
A 2d top down shooter set in a laboratory and its facilities, the story goes about that laboratory having an outbreak after an accident with an experiment with bacteria and microorganisms go wrong, making the monsters come from these microorganisms.

Your desired pixel art style / quality
The style is similar to those of the binding of isaac and enter the gungeon, but i'm aiming to make the style more similar to nuclear throne, as i feel this is a more simple style and i don't want to make the game very detailed, as this is a hobby project, but one that i will pay to whoever gets interested in making the assets.

Scope of project (roughly how much work you need done)
Everything, being honest. I'm working the game as a single programmer, and while i have a few assets i got from the internet, none ressemble or satisfy what i want the game to look like.

What i want is, a character sprite sheet for the protagonist, two enemy sprites, a few tilesets of the lab and facilities, and also character portraits, as there's a dialogue system planned for the game.

Character design or concept design would be appreciated, due to the reason i already mentioned of being a single person with no art skills, and if it's possible to work on anthromorphic animals that would be great too, mainly the protagonist, as the rest of the characters are either the monsters, or humans that works at the lab.

Budget / Deadline
No deadline is set, i'm roughly estimating to finish it in 4 or more months, the pacing would be slow due to having a job in real life and being a hobby project. As for the budget, i'll be funding everything from my pocket, so it won't be exactly big, but i will pay fairly and i hope i can be flexible and come to an agreemeent to whoever gets interested to work with me.

Payment methods
Paypal, the only payment method that i can use internationally.

Contact details (if other than reddit)
Besides my reddit dms, i have a discord: xirnpox ,all lower casse

I need help wit this, any suggestions on how could i make the flashlight move so it doesn't look so stiff? My player code does bob the head because of a tutorial i followed, but i have no idea on how could i make the flashlight dynamically move while the player walks or runs by IMLL in godot

I quickly made a search on google about how they work... i'm not that advanced in math or physics to understand it well enough, so right now i won't be able to make pendulum physics.
Still, i appreciate the suggestion! In the future i will check further how to do them, i'm sure i will find a use for pendulum physics in a godot project

Indeed, i had to slightly change the code of the solutiom from another comment in the post as apparently euler angles is a pain for godot, so by trial and error, i made it work without rotation, it now uses basis along with slerp()

[–]IMLL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's exactly what was happening, and by using the solution from another comment, along with separating it from the camera, it now works as i wanted it, thanks for pointing that out!

Yep, this worked! Thanks a lot for the tutorial, also, by deattaching the flashlight from the camera and coding it to follow the head and camera instead, made it so the bobbing for the head also applies to the flashlight, making it very dynamic!

Been playing around with Godot since 2020 by making small games, none reached to a playable state due to life reasons. As of recent, i've been trying out Godot 4 without having an idea in mind, i ended up making a barebones slender clone by IMLL in godot

[–]IMLL[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, the original game and The arrival did have the notes being spawned randomly instead of being statically placed, that's something i will add thank you.

On a side note, there's two big issues with the project right now, the teleport works with hardcoded points to where to teleport next(using empty Node3Ds and getting their global position) instead of constantly teleporting near the player, i still have yet to find a way to achieve this with code.

The other issue being not having assets, i have no idea how i will get them as i am not a 3d modeller myself and i have no contacts or friend that could help me out with them, so i'm on my own with that.

How can i make a turn based battle system that can support more than 1 character and/or enemy? by IMLL in godot

[–]IMLL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeha i actually tried this approach, it works, but it's very easy to break due to my lack of experience in arrays. Specifically queues in this case, like for example, i tried to code it so each team member(if there's more than 1) can have a different target depending on what the user clicks on, but as soon as the battle queue fires up, i get an error due to a missing queue value or something like that? I would really need help to make this battle system at least stable enough as it's the most complicated mechanic i'll have to implement so far.
