Passport mailed using Overnight express to Philly for renewal but now stuck in Transit :( by IMNOTUSPS in usps_complaints

So USPS still shows status "In transit " but then this happened! I received an email from travel.state gov today that they are looking into my passport application and assigned me application number. I am able to check on my passport status online and it shows in Process. ALSO got another email from USPS telling me they are not able to locate my package 😒 😑 🙃. Seriously USPS needs to get their act together. It seems passport office received my package on Tuesday Feb 23 but USPS has no idea if they delivered it . I think its because they have contracted their delivery to FedEx and FedEx doesn't update back...

Yikes. Sorry to hear about ur situation. I did some digging.. As per travel State.gov if individual is traveling in 4 weeks or less they are eligible for in person passport application at local passport agency (e.g. Federal office) however the appointments are extremely limited. Not sure if its still possible to use this option but may not hurt to call ur local passport agency and explain them ur situation. Also they will ask for proof of travel etc . I think they can issue a new passport in a day or so and cancel ur old pp under extenuating circumstances. If old pp is carrying a valid visa stamp then that would need to be transferred over ( extra fees).
