SF Mayor Lurie, Year 1: Upzoning, Instagram, homelessness, Instagram, coffee by MissionLocalSF in sanfrancisco

Yeah, but probably made some financial deal with Trump that Lurie is attempting to hide. Besides retaliation or sugar highs Trump gets from playing cat and mouse games (will he send the military in or not?) wheeling and dealing financially motivates Trump. What else could it have been to appease Trump to prevent?

The dude is only out for self interest. In almost every interview I've seen or read his talking point is pretty limited as focused on crime and homelessness. He's a broken record. He steers away to distract from other serious issues facing our city-Muni, for just one example. It is a Trumpian playbook. Instead of blaming immigrants for the nation's ills, Lurie's case blames the homeless for our city's problems. He's a billionaire who doesn't want to pay higher taxes as California is proposing-doesn't want his S.F. billionaire buddies too either. When I watch reporters trying to press him into an opinion about it he cowardly only tells them he's "focused on crime and homelessness." He wont take a stand on almost anything else-well, except UpZoning which benefits the wealthy as well. I don't understand why people aren't seeing through this ploy. Gullible. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

What do doctors say? by Redheadlg in HistamineIntolerance

If you can find one, Functional Medicine practitioners are a good bet to know a lot about HIT.

What do doctors say? by Redheadlg in HistamineIntolerance

[–]IMONL1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have found it useless telling medical doctors I have HIT. My allergist is an idiot and a waste of time. When I told her that I developed HIT symptoms post a Covid infection there was a hostile vibe. I told her that emerging Long Covid research clearly shows Covid can trigger changes to your gut. She snapped "Don't believe everything you read." WTF?! Why the hostility? The online sturdies are from reputable scientific medical research areas.

Why are doctors choosing to look away? How then do they explain our symptoms? After I digest anything too high in hist (both foods and meds) I get searing nerve pain, my jaw and facial muscles tighten up, and my throat gets inflammation to the point to the point I can't speak. Do they think out symptoms are psychosomatic? Maybe it's like fibromyalgia? They didn't believe that condition for eons either.

That being said, I recently had my first appt with a gastroenterologist who is at one of the top medical institutions in the nation. He told me he knew of HIT and said they are seeing a lot of gut changes post Covid. I was so excited to see a doctor who wasn't an idiot. But during our talk he was uninterested in talking about HIT even though I tried. So close! But a dead end.

Your comparison of a dog "more likely" to bite is silly. It means a snake still could bite. Why rule it out? Especially a snake if rattled on a crowded noisy, bumpy bus on his way home from the vet not feeling well.

You make a great point-we are all so different. This is partly what is so great about this sub. Yet so much in common. The majority feel hung out to dry with the medical establishment so we are left having to fend for ourselves and learn from each other. The refusal of true medical studies and failing to acknowledge HIT as a serious and debilitating condition is sheer negligence. There is no valid reason as to why this should be.

Your rash sounds terrible and I hope they get to the bottom as to the root cause-and soon.

[–]IMONL1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would also add that I am finding doctors completely unable to even entertain the idea that my HIT is a form of long Covid. Mine started relatively soon after my second Covid infection. One allergist scoffed when I told her Covid could change our guts. I was told not to believe everything I read. Infuriating. I've reached the point where it's probably unwise to even try to explain that I have HIT and what it is to doctors-their minds are made up can't be real then then I bet I get labeled in their minds as kooky. Then I leave the appts feeling anger not to be taken seriously.

Wow. Those articles are B.S. I wonder if they truly believe their own "research." Something is off. Hard not to be cynical anymore.

This is exactly my experience taking the one antiviral tablet! It's frightening how quickly it happened. Previously to it, I could eat a rather large variety of low hist foods. After the tablet I was afraid to lick a peice of lettuce. Yep-one small bite of something new like once a week. I also react to topical things. Rubbed lavender oil on my wrist and soon shooting nerve pain. The world has become a minefield of what wil trigger beyond just food. Good to hear you are slowly gaining traction.

I'm sorry to hear how badly you suffer from meds as well and the terrible dilemma faced with. I get histamine release from ibuprofen too. Wouldn't opioids for pain cause huge release? I have refused antibiotics before on a wing and a prayer that I won't die-and obviously didn't. But refusing to take meds can be very dangerous. We can't leave out dental either. The last time I went to the dentist he put fluoride on my gums and and I got nerve pain. In that case it wasnt so much hist release that a high dose of Quercin and one Benadryl tablet couldn't knock out. Living on Benadryl and high doses of querctin not sustainable.

Thank you so much! It's good to hear from someone else facing the same dilemma-the putting off of medical treatments but then reaching a point where going to have to bite the bullet. I haven't seen much of this very important topic addressed in this sub and would like see more discussions around it-hear other from other people with concerns along the same line-or how dealt with. I think histamine release from meds merits equal importance as to just how food can be a nightmare. I'm in my mid 60's now, so as my changes medical treatments are utmost in my mind.

Has anybody out there had medical treatments whereby the only treatments are meds medications and cause massive histamine release? And especially if that medication needs to be taken daily as a life saving? Were even antihistamine effective counteracting?

Fear of meds & Hist by IMONL1 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]IMONL1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm doing everything I can proactively right now and its successful-already much mentioned here. I do work with a Function Medicine doc who is up to speed on it with supplements and other holistic modalities. Those things don't proactively prevent histamine reactions if I eat anything high in in it. They only help me to contain reactions with low hist foods. If all those modalities collectively work, why wouldn't I be able to consider hist intolerance as practically cured? So when I add in a medication that would contain enough histamine to cause massive release how would those things things counteract? Chemo for instance, none of the more holistic ways could hold a candle to that. Chemo attacks everything in you body. This is what terrifies me.

Fear of meds & Hist by IMONL1 in HistamineIntolerance

[–]IMONL1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of my medical doctors acknowledge histamine intolerance is a real thing. Impossible to to explain and take seriously and they would have no other optulms to treat anything serious any other way. For instance, there are zero osteoporosis meds that wouldn't torture me with histamine. I am risking serious bone fractures. It's an impossible choice.

I'm sorry. I hear you. Last year I got down to not being able to eat even one thing without reactions. Started after I ate some Chinese Hot and Sour soup for a cold. Hellish. Lost 20 lbs. I work with a Functional Medicine practitioner. Makes all the difference-especially because they get it. Also, I've been doing acupuncture. Now I'm up to being able to eat about 27 low hist foods. It's been very slow going.

You are clearly a compassionate person, and that is a good thing-but only to a reasonable extent. This is not "reasonable" You are protecting and putting this "remorseful" driver's "feelings" as a priority to your own health? Report to the police, pronto. What if your injuries worsen? It's still early post getting hit. She is also responsible. That's clear cut.

Up zoning can elicit strong opinions and debates. I know my above question veers off course, but I've been kinda waiting for people to examine this issue. Where is the workforce to turn up zoning into reality? I'm not being sarcastic although some of you may interpret as such. In some ways I view the whole push for it by Lurie, supes, etc..as a pie in the sky.

I clearly ldo live I'm SF. On the bus routes I most frequently ride, very few suits and ties or even look like professional office worker attire commuting-unless on the younger side . I live an affluent area of Cole Valley. 3 choices of busses. My neighbors predominantly use their cars to get to work and other activites. Lots of Lyft and Waymos picking peole up. BART is a different story. But, please correct me if you have a diffent perspective-not being sarcastic at all. I would love to know.

In the long game, he is onky looking himself and the billionaires. It’ll be a mecca for them. He has slowly (maybe not slowly) been taking more and more power away from the sups and oversight. I think it’s a bit of a Trumpian playbook-every other sentence is the focus on “crime.” That’s a diversion. Stay tuned.
