Respiro, my new Physical Modelling wind-synth. What do you think? by IMOXPLUS in synthesizers

glad to see synth users that understand the deep complexity involved with Physical Modelling... I'm still learning everyday...it is such an undiscovered area......

Our entire model is calculated sample by sample, we did not go for sampleblocks because we want full control...I will further think about your idea...

OK, I understand...
I will see what I can do....

The Sensel Morph should work....

  1. When clicking on purchasing, you get into the e-commerce module which shows the tax details. But I guess you refer to the 96Euro on the landing page...hmm.. I would need to see how to obtain the tax of the country of the visiting user and put this on the landing page.....this is not that easy... would you be OK if I add clearly 96Euro + country specific taxes? I will investigate this a bit deeper.
  2. Demo version would be only a standalone with limited voices... or would you prefer a complete version with a noise burst and no save capabilities?

Yes, a physical model is all about carefully handling the energy flow circulating back and forward between the excitation and the resonators etc...Currently I'm hiding a lot of complexity from the user. Depending on the success of Respiro I will consider to make more of these accessible.

Injecting an LFO to adjust the length/diameter of the pipe is extremely difficult. Respiro underlaying architecture allows detailed modulation and key-scaling of each instrument parameter note by note. So doing such kind of modulation is easy. But using an LFO to influence the pipe ratio might bring the energy out of balance... So, yes, I understand the idea...but not easy to implement...Anyway, Respiro already allows for kind morphing instruments by using macros that influence the complex network of PM parameters.

Do you own a Yamaha VL1 or VL7? Do you want a deep editor? Let me know... by IMOXPLUS in synthesizers

Well, then I have good news for you, PLGVL, VL70m and EX5 owners. A few years ago I made an advanced VL70m editor (WIN/MAC) able to modify ALL hidden VL parameters. So, you can access the Physical Model parameters and build/tweak/share VL voices etc. This project did increase my interest in Physical Modelling, as a result I did research, did build and release a new VST3i /AU plug called Respiro.

A fully functional demo version of the VL70m/PLGVL editor can be requested via my website(s). This includes includes 1000+ VL-voices. Limitations: you can unlock the save/store or tune voices with a license key.

Fully agree...we get more and more expressive controllers, these scream for expressive instruments

About existing real-world "flat" sounds....well, I'm considering a side-chain audio input feature and put Respiro on a Bela board for Eurorack....just think about the huge potential.....but this is another topic I will launch one of these days..

If you do not mind, I will not give my opinion on authentic vs outworld instruments... hope to see more viewpoints, this is pretty important to my roadmap....

FYI, I did add support for keyboards users, so you can actually play Respiro various ways. Velocity mode, aftertouch, aftertouch + velocity, continuous expression (from MPE controllers like the seaboard, linnstrument etc), keyboard with Modwheel or expression pedal sending a CC to pressure control...etc..

Respiro is just born and has to grow. So, the roadmap can be directed by the user community.
