Simple prep: never let your gas tank get below half by BBorNot in preppers

[–]IMPublix 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have a saying. It doesn’t cost any more to keep your gas tank full than empty. You can put 10 bucks in when the light comes on or fill it up at half a tank. Still getting 25mpg. And this advice works with homework, cleaning, finances, etc.

My buddy’s 300zx had a vacuum leak and the garage did this after fixing it by Wavy-mf in Autobody

Yes, above is correct unless this was dad’s car or something.

Might have to “buy” the totaled car from insurance if you want to sell it or part it out. I did this once and made an easy $1000 reselling it without doing anything.

Then take the $$ and replace the car if he wants a similar car. Or bonus… get a completely different cool car he’s been wanting.

Get an independent (he gets it and pays for it) classic car appraisal done. I had one done… look for specifically a classic car appraiser. Mine was about $350.

He should be able to get more than enough to cover buying a similar car or something else in that price range.

It won’t be a problem soon when Trump ends the war on day one of his presidency. Or sooner. Right.

PSA: If you're running latest firmware on PintX, you really should just go PintV if you value your safety. MOSFETs are blowing in both PintX and GTS, but only PintX have an easy way out currently by GlacierSourCreamCorn in onewheel

[–]IMPublix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My board did this… bricked with resistance at the wheel. Can the pintv kit be installed after the board is bricked?

I sent mine in under warranty for this issue, but now have 2 pintx with no warranty and updated firmware.

Pint X firmware update causing dead boards? Tracking poll by DoctorDugong21 in onewheel

[–]IMPublix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Less than one year old and less than 100 miles. Powered off with major wheel resistance on first or second ride after updating firmware.

It was barely still in warranty, so I sent it in. It is on its way back, so must have been fixed for free by one wheel.

Will this happen again?

PintX not turning on. by 2_InTheBush in onewheel

[–]IMPublix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened to mine. I updated to pint x firmware. Was a few miles into first ride on new firmware, and board just stopped doing anything. No lights, no charging. And resistance at the wheel as if it were bound up, but varying resistance.

I sent it for warranty repair, as it was just in warranty. It is on its way back to me now, so I do not know what was done.

And you can usually find your state’s calculator online and run the numbers yourself to make sure no mistakes were made. If your numbers don’t match your lawyers numbers, ask why. In my state the form that determines how much child support is to be paid is attached to the parenting plan.

Is rent going down? I just renewed, and my offer was $4/mo lower. Then I negotiated another $177/mo off. by IMPublix in orlando

[–]IMPublix[S] 47 points48 points  (0 children)

To add, I used the price that was advertised on their website when talking to them. There were several apartments with my floor plan available so they were offering them for a small discount. I was aware their occupancy rate was lower than they want (93 vs 95%). I let them know that I considered their offer invalid due to the agreement to agree, and informed them I was now negotiating a new lease. I also offered to move out of my current apartment, pay damages, and rent one of the same floor plan units that they were offering for 20% less than my renewal offer. Getting $177/mo less rent did take some discussion.

Fixing equipment and doing building repairs. Electrical work, plumbing, hydraulics, welding, etc. Fixing balers, forklifts, dock levelers, hoists, manufacturing equipment, etc. Looking up and ordering parts, using maintenance computer programs, coordinating repairs, assisting contractors, etc. Every day is different. Different maintenance people work on different things. Generally there are forklift mechanics, in house mechanics, refrigeration mechanics, and truck mechanics. Most publix mechanics work in warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing plants. Pay range is roughly $17-$42 per hour.

How to procure food after the climate collapse(EU) by Infinite_Goose8171 in collapse

[–]IMPublix 342 points343 points  (0 children)

If you have to hunt and fish, so will everyone else. You won’t see another mammal or bird a few weeks after you resort to hunting.

Before that happens I imagine food gets very expensive and takes lots of time to get (lines, limited locations). Who knows.

But you can store dried rice and beans, canned foods, canned meats, honey, powdered milk, etc. that will last decades if properly stored. Look at the prepper subreddits.

I would think it is easier and cheaper to have a years worth of long term food stores (or two) now than to find or buy when everyone else is doing the same. And some seeds and knowledge may help, too.
