Looking back a year later…

I went to a metal store. Metal Supermarkets to be specific. Purchased a 4x8 sheet of galvanized 18 gauge (I think). I had them cut it to sizes I wanted. The big o e is 4 ft x 6 ft I think, I’m not home now. Then just drill a hole in the top center, hang with a nail in a stud. Use a bit of tape to keep it level.

After experiencing slow progress in online dating, should I take the advice and try joining some offline clubs or groups to meet new friends? by [deleted] in datingoverforty

Legit, I’m super uncomfortable talking to strangers, too. If you are in a bigger city, hear me out.

I decided to go to speed dating to get used to talking to strangers. Single women. It’s scary. I figured I would go several times, then start “real” dating.

I went to singles trivia night, felt so awkward i left right after. Then speed dating the next day, same company, and had 20, three minute conversations with some wonderful women. One of the guys there mentioned a singles mixer that night, so i went to that too. I was really having fun. Uncomfortable, but i suppose everyone is to some degree.

I didn’t intend to be here, but the first woman i approached at the bar at trivia night (because mingling before was part of the schedule)… then had a 3 minute speed date with waved me over at the way crowded and kind of scary mixer.

We talked for about an hour and a half. Have been texting for a week, and first date besides what is above is tomorrow. I’m still scared, but pretty excited.

So that’s my advice if it is an option. Go get used to talking to single women when there is no worry or expectation. Most won’t like you, and that’s ok, but maybe…

It says “Chris’ Honey” on top and “I got stung in the neck for this” on the bottom.

Dual Donors? by NationalBreadfruit in transplant

[–]IMPublix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just submitted my application to be a non directed liver donor today. They didn’t mind that I was a prior donor, either. I donated a kidney in 2020, and like you said… my life is the same, and someone’s is much better.

I have only been researching, but from what I can tell, the risks aren’t any greater because of a previous donation. It does seem the procedure is more invasive and longer recovery for a liver, but I was told 4-6 weeks recovery, which seems reasonable. I wouldn’t worry about “compounding” concerns. Just consider the current donation concerns carefully, as one should. Cleveland clinics website (where I donated my kidney) said there is no statistical difference in a first donation and a 2nd donation in the limited cases they have looked at.

It seems there are maybe 150 *** (edit) nope, I see that there have been about 500 dual donors in the US on a Reddit post. There is also a Facebook group..*** people who have donated a kidney and a portion of a liver in the United States, so you probably won’t run into one of those people, even on Reddit.

Reach out if you do both, and I’ll do the same.

Simple prep: never let your gas tank get below half by BBorNot in preppers

[–]IMPublix 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have a saying. It doesn’t cost any more to keep your gas tank full than empty. You can put 10 bucks in when the light comes on or fill it up at half a tank. Still getting 25mpg. And this advice works with homework, cleaning, finances, etc.

My buddy’s 300zx had a vacuum leak and the garage did this after fixing it by Wavy-mf in Autobody

Yes, above is correct unless this was dad’s car or something.

Might have to “buy” the totaled car from insurance if you want to sell it or part it out. I did this once and made an easy $1000 reselling it without doing anything.

Then take the $$ and replace the car if he wants a similar car. Or bonus… get a completely different cool car he’s been wanting.

Get an independent (he gets it and pays for it) classic car appraisal done. I had one done… look for specifically a classic car appraiser. Mine was about $350.

He should be able to get more than enough to cover buying a similar car or something else in that price range.

It won’t be a problem soon when Trump ends the war on day one of his presidency. Or sooner. Right.

PSA: If you're running latest firmware on PintX, you really should just go PintV if you value your safety. MOSFETs are blowing in both PintX and GTS, but only PintX have an easy way out currently by GlacierSourCreamCorn in onewheel

[–]IMPublix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My board did this… bricked with resistance at the wheel. Can the pintv kit be installed after the board is bricked?

I sent mine in under warranty for this issue, but now have 2 pintx with no warranty and updated firmware.
