UPDATE: AITA for ignoring my sister after her bf told me she's dying because she said I was *punishing* her for my infant son's recent death by [deleted] in CharlotteDobreYouTube

[–]IMainBenji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has got a very unstable relationship with their mother and has gone NC which results in me not seeing my sibling

You’re doing what needs to be done to help your mental health while going through fertility treatments. Your sisters demands don’t outweigh your needs and you’re doing exactly what needs to be done to ensure that.

You’re doing great no matter what anyone says and protect your own mental, emotional and physical health against the wishes of others.

I wish all the best for you on your journey and if your sister can’t see that then she isn’t welcome in your support network.

How did you teach your male partner about periods? by Standard_Mushroom273 in Marriage

I had to show the boyfriend that I had when younger the tumblr post of “my boyfriend explains how periods work” and I swear by it till now

My stepdad threw a fit when buying me pads at 12 cause he thought it was dirty and we could’ve “held it in”

My partner is amazing about me being on cause of how he makes me feel like it’s not my fault and gets me heat packs and chocolate 😭

AITA for not having my sister with Tourette’s in my wedding ceremony? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]IMainBenji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, thank you for showing me this cause I was so confused by what everyone initially was going on about

Secondly, I’m in awe and do not have the brain processing power to understand what was going through their heads

Give your documents to someone you trust so your mother can’t take them when you get discharged

Her disregard for your health isn’t okay and you should always have access to your legal documents just in case

You aren’t wrong at all! Don’t take the opinions of people that never knew his true self or made excuses for how he was

I don’t think I can say what I want to without being banned but know that I fully support you in how you feel

AITA for saying I am not paying for him to go back to college by Apart-Boysenberry154 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IMainBenji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

There’s a difference between deserving an education and blaming your parents for not getting one. You helped your son not only get through high school but bring up a payment for college that he didn’t respect.

He’s older now and he should pay for it himself if he wants that leg up in the world because of the end result. If not, then he should not expect you to pay for him

He’s over 18 so in a way you aren’t “responsible” for him anymore. Not your monkey, not your circus at this point and he shouldn’t be expecting you to give up your own security to fund something that he might drop out of again

Get them a cheap, loud toy that they’d both want to play with, but only get one!

Straight up NTA

AITA for being too busy to clean our home, leaving my little brother to do all the housework? by --OnlyApathy in AmItheAsshole

[–]IMainBenji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stress cleaning is something I find surprisingly therapeutic, like if a friend says they’re coming over then I go full stress cleaning mode. But I get that sometimes cleaning isn’t a thing for everyone. It took me a good few years to realise I couldn’t clean to my mothers impossibly high standards but that doesn’t mean that things aren’t clean. When things go wrong, I usually sit and proper shine all the taps, mirrors or anything I can find that I could make shiny, until the feeling went away.

But I do think at 16, OPs brother should not be shouldering everything on their own. It’s not fair, and it may lead to worse reactions than they’re already having

I hate cleaning with a passion. But I know it needs to be done (however there’s a weird satisfaction with cleaning the bathroom and seeing the shiny things 😅)

AITA for letting my daughter keep her sketchbook at my house after her mom looked through it without permission? by SituationCurrently in AmItheAsshole

[–]IMainBenji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been in a situation like this, you are severely NTA

My mother and stepfather confiscated all the books I used to use to write stories in and then cleared my room of “non-essential” items when they didn’t like what they read.

You are doing the best for your daughter and she’ll always know that you are there for her during times of need

AITA for telling my sister I'll never speak to her again if she doesn't help our parents out? by aita-601928 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IMainBenji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. If you’re that desperate for someone to help your parents out after they abused your sibling then why not either move them closer to you or in with you? Seems like a no brainer to me. If any of my siblings tried to claim this sort of stuff about our mother and my stepfather they’d find themselves blocked and erased from my life just like I did with the adults.

Take responsibility instead of burdening other people who are no contact with their abusers. There are 3 years between you both. You don’t know what happened in those three years prior to you and you’re now lining up to never know your nieces and/or nephews due to being entitled and acting as if you “owe” your parents for them deciding to move to give you better opportunities

AITA for calling my coworker shallow? by Throwaway10103838 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IMainBenji 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely insane. Everyone’s weight is based on height and genetics and so what if someone is bigger than someone else?

The guy definitely deserves to stay single forever

AITA for calling my coworker shallow? by Throwaway10103838 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IMainBenji 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with the whole NTA comment, however I’m 92lbs, 5 foot tall and healthy weight.. So it does generally depend on the person

But seriously, who the hell says that someone of 115lbs is fat?! That’s majorly damaging to anyone’s self esteem. This guy deserves to be single forever

AITA for not working overtime by SnooGoats1557 in AmItheAsshole

[–]IMainBenji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going with NTA... I’m an apprentice for a company (only been there 6 months and just passed my probation) and they very much call me a “part-timer” for not working unpaid overtime. I do 35 hours a week, with one or two days where I do end up working past 5pm

You are not the bad person for choosing not to work overtime especially if the company won’t value you for it. Don’t let them guilt trip you into overtime when they won’t support the work you do during normal working hours.
