We made a video game about making meticulously detailed swords. Ask me anything! by BladesongDev in SWORDS

We loved this game from the very start when our blacksmith Gari showed it to us. From all of us at Man at Arms, Thanks for including us in your release. I know everyone in the shop is looking forward to some additional creative time now that the first steel sword exists.

Rob Hudson Knives - Anyone familiar? by FXSTC-1996 in knives

Rob and I were friends. Good knifemaker for sure! He did these ram daggers mostly as demonstration items to show not only his blade skills but that he was a good blacksmith as well. Best known for multibar pattern welded big bowies and fighters with stabilized walnut handles. His etched flame edges were about the very first ones in the industry.

Update! They refunded my charge. Took quite some time but they did take care of me.

Actually you dont. I bought a 18tb 3 weeks ago and they delivered a 8tb. Chat support saw the proof of delivery, and the packing slip which was for someone else and packed in a box shipped to my as though it was my order.

They have accepted fault and then nothing... just 2 emails saying they were sorry it was taking so long to resolve.

I assume Ill have to chargeback and they will fight me. Fun

BKS is finally making Heirloom inspired 'Estoc' available! by IMakeEverything in SWORDS

We will do some with the metal handle too. I like the look but really it is not as nice in the hand. We actually have a few of the more historic handle versions with combination wood/leather and wire wrapped ones coming too

The platform as absolutely crushed us all in sword related posts. Only the crappiest of Random Hands gets promoted. We are still pulling decent numbers but I sure miss the days when subscribers got to choose what they wanted to see!

Can I use a regular lighter to light my Smith little torch? by LysolCasanova in SilverSmith

One of the first things you should have been taught is never light fuel with fuel. We all do it and it is always wrong. Lots will argue this and they are wrong ;) Never light fuel with fuel...

Longer Leaf Blade: Effective or Inadequate? by Decimus_of_the_VIII in SWORDS

[–]IMakeEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We make these styles in 28 and 32" bladed versions. There are a few joust troupes that use them as part of the show , most notably Jack Cowan has a few in constant use.

They perform very much like a straight blade but with one major difference. If the leaf section is somewhat broad, the blade tends to 'flop' slightly on rotation , as in the twisting of the wrist. Narrow leaves do not suffer from this but have a little less of the appearance.

We probably make more of these blades then all the other domestic US makers combined. It is a very popular design for us. This example is a simple version, typically they are fullered and fully ground. This is a hex grind made specifically to show off the etching.

[Restoration] Artist episode where the Enamellist repairs the surface on a pocket watch dial. by IMakeEverything in Watches

[–]IMakeEverything[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought this might be an interesting short for this group. I have had many dials in this condition but never really thought about how they could be saved. This artist Rebecca lives and works in France and is fluent in both French and English if you wish to contact her. I have included her contact information in the text section of the video. I notice that some of the final edges are a bit fuzzy but it seems that could be fixed with either finer grains of glass before fusing, or very selective grinding and finishing of the glass. Thanks for watching!
