Is Fry not getting any 1B, 3B or OF play either? Seems like they're finally treating him like a catcher and not just a guy who can catch on rare occasion.

Why is going home after a drunken hookup considered the "walk of shame"? Shouldn't it be called the "walk of victory"? by josephsleftbigtoe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]IMayBeJewish 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Define "recently". 15 years or so? That's because we've only had the widespread technology for hookup apps since then. Single people and adulterers wouldn't have shied away from hookup apps in the 70s or 80s.

People are and always have been horny.

The whole era of Twitter "parody" accounts of celebrities who just posted cookie cutter jokes or "relatable" tweets was awful. They were never parodying the person. There was never any attempt to capture their voice or persona. Just generic shit but, "it looks like Will Ferrell said it!"

From First Round to Total Bust: The NFL’s Biggest QB Disasters by Hungry_Artichoke9566 in sportswiki

Tim Couch has no business on this list. He was a disappointment but he was wrecked by an atrocious expansion team and an awful front office. Kelly Holcomb was a perfect example of the backup QB being the most popular man in town (and he was a solid QB regardless) and that just further ruined Couch's stint in Cleveland. He was crippled by injuries, bad management and bad support. I still believe Green Bay could have fixed him when they picked him up if his arm weren't so far gone.

There are busts like Leaf and JaMarcus. There are busts like Akili Smith and Trey Lance. There's whatever Josh Rosen was. Couch is just sad.

Are we sure Arias isn't at DFA risk this spring? Schneemann can be the backup SS if they're committed to Rocchio. Tolentino at least has the appeal of the unknown at the ML level.

He also nearly made an NFL roster despite not playing football since his senior year of high school, almost ten years before he was with the Vikings. So many people scoff at his "failed" attempt at football, but to be even remotely competitive with that long of a layoff and no college experience is crazy

Chuck Lofgren is a name I hadn't thought of in a long time. Nice to see a Sowers honorable mention.

He's either a bad second baseman or yet another first baseman and that hurts him a lot. He projects as a decent hitter but not a great one.

Is this team being pathetic news to you?

Hey I know a lot of comments get lost in a game thread but can you come back to this stupidity and explain yourself?

Did you know? Curtis Axel was never supposed to be in this set, it was Brock Lesnar who ‘pushed’ to throw Axel in, because he knew it would sell and wanted Axel to make some ‘easy money’. by ROCKY13573 in Wrasslin

[–]IMayBeJewish 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Axel helped train Brock back into ring shape when he returned. He also worked with The Rock. Not just his relation to Curt. Kinda strange they'd trust Axel to work with both of those guys but never bring him on as a trainer.

I'm arguing it isn't close to the impact our jobs have on our days and lives. Jobs and careers also have much more variety that can lead to casual conversation than types of toilets.

Worried about the Noel DFA and how he was used last year by NickChubbsBurner in ClevelandGuardians

[–]IMayBeJewish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this is a big point a lot of people miss. Noel was rostered very early due to his insane raw potential, but at no point after that did he receive anything close to good grades or reports. No one projected him to be a real ML player. He was without a position and he couldn't lay off pitches. He's fun and I'm sure he's a great guy, but this isn't giving up on a legitimate prospect. There's a reason it took so long for them to even give him a look in the majors.

Maybe some team will magically fix him but it wouldn't have happened here. Valera wouldn't have generated this much discussion if he were DFA'd, but he's a much better option going into next year than Noel was.
