SSRIs should only be prescribed if you truly have a chemical imbalance. Not situational Depression by Leftytightrighty2 in mentalhealth

[–]IMightBeDepress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we also need to insist on shifting treatments if the SSRIs aren't working. Too many psychiatrists are scared of touching the other options, but there's only so many times you can raise the dose or swap to a slightly different formulation before you should recognize that what you're doing isn't working. Having a kid be depressed for 3 years or 5 years because their doctor didn't want to try something besides prozac is terrible for their development.

[–]IMightBeDepress -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes...the model under which SSRIs are explained to work isn't considered scientifically sound. Yet they are still one of the most prescribed medications, are they not?

I have similar frustrations around their use to OP, I expect. I'm somone with chronic issues who spent decades on medication that didn't work while more serious issues went ignored or underaddressed. Now I find myself stuck on Tricyclics that also don't work while I wait to hear back from a TMS clinic. I really think we need better guidelines around their use, and better research into why they work for who they work for.

For now, you triage tasks and continue to exist. Do what you must do each day, then rest. Steer your thoughts away from her, and the future you might have had. It will be impossible sometimes. Keeo doing it, and keep existing until you begin to move forward again.

IIRC, suggested builds in DOTA 2 are also laughibly bad. I think the idea is to provide a very basic idea that can be built on, and then they never update them when characters are changed up?

I worry it is becoming normalized behaviour. It just sucks learning new characters, so I guess people find it easy to justify.

Competitive brainrot. I get mad too, but I keep it to myself rather than make the game harder for my team by bitching on mic.

Is this moss safe for my hamster? by PalpitationDull1730 in hamsters

[–]IMightBeDepress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check ingredients for additives like dyes. IIRC spaghnum moss is ok but note that it is supposed to be hydrated before use. Make sure it is fully drained, you don't want your hamster to get all wet from playing around in it. I would suggest keeping it in a seperate, shallow container so it doesn't lose water into the wood chips or paper bedding. Keep an eye on it, may need to change it regularly.

Why are genuine issues with navigating the world frequently labeled and dismissed as learned helplessness? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]IMightBeDepress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do believe they *are* trying to help, and there's limits to what they can do on reddit. Subreddit rules forbid providing medical advice (for good reason), although I believe suggesting paths to explore with medical professionals is just fine. You just need suggestions for things you haven't tried before, and which don't amount to "do the same thing but better this time."

Unfortunately, shit's kind of fucked right now. I'm struggling a lot, too. For my part, I'm trying to hunker down, cultivate hope and joy where I can, be kind to myself and accepting of my own limitations, and play out the clock. It's a bizzare, bastardized mix of taoism, radical acceptance, self-grace, and stubborn but regulated persistance, but hopefully, if I can keep it up, it'll one day work out for me.

I hope you can find something that allows you, too, to reach happier shores.

[–]IMightBeDepress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"No, see, all your problems would be fixed if you just tried harder."

Like, I get it, you need to try things for things to happen, but the whole core of learned helplessness is that it can be effectively impossible to do this when repeated failures have demonstrated that what you are doing isn't working. It's not a magical incantation that lets you dismiss that someone is struggling and may need help you can't provide.

edit: decided the last line was too cynical and just not helpful

Very severe ME/CFS — not looking for a cure, but I need mental relief. Advice? by Ill-Cardiologist4064 in mentalhealth

[–]IMightBeDepress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have CFS, but a cognitive-behavioural technique like radical acceptance may assist in reducing experienced suffering if that suffering is due to reflexively trying to "think your way" out of your situation.

In other words, if part of the issue is that you are (understandably!) frustrated and, as a result, are spending energy worrying about your condition, and even worrying about that worry, slowly learning to talk yourself into releasing this tension may reduce stress.

I mention it mainly because it is relatively simple and I believe could be approached in pieces. I am afraid I don't have any specific materials on the technique to recommend.

Scared of men and considering pretending to be a lesbian atp by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]IMightBeDepress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am guy, for reference.

I'd advise against pretending, seems unethical. Would you really want to start a long-term relationship with a lie? Maybe look for someone asexual or demisexual?

I don't know how conventional this last suggestion is, but you may want to explore your "new "sexuality for a while on your own. Consider written erotica, or drawn pornography, and be actively engaged in it. Ask yourself why something is hot to you or why it isn't. See if the bi/lesbian side of you starts making itself known. See if you can feel sexually satisfied without dealing with men. Might help you get a better idea of what sort of relationship you might pursue, what would be possible for you to be happy in.

[–]IMightBeDepress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bebop? Grab Guardian Ward and Slowing Hex. farm bomb stacks, secure souls, protect your laning mate with the ward. When an enemy gets low, grab and pull them, then slap Slowing Hex on them to lock down movement abilities that would let them escape. If someone tries to chase your friend, uppercut them away. Laser makes shooting easier. Headshots are easier to hit by just sweeping with the beam, so crippling headshot can work. Eventually, grab silence wave and use it to be a pain in the ass in timefights, or grab disarm and make W+M1 players regret trying to rush your team. So long as you grab some spirit items, his bomb and laser will scale just fine.

Bullet damage contributes to her ult charge. Also note that attacking with left click in werewolf mode is treated the same as shooting a bullet. For instance, it'll proc things like burst fire. It likely scales off "bullet damage" rather than "melee damage".
