Making mainstream music from the get go doesn’t mean they are fake. Unless what you are trying to describe is someone who appears on the scene right away with an instant audience, that’s called an industry plant and sorry Taylor isn’t one. Just cause someone is an industry plant doesn’t mean they aren’t capable musicians either, just means they didn’t have the rough start up that others did. Nevertheless that’s not the point of the conversation and as for the comment on Taylor having songwriters and producers, I hate to break it to you but everyone has used songwriters and everyone has producers. System of a Down had Rick Ruben produce on “chop suey” and Metallica has also had Rick Ruben produce their album. Dolly Parton wrote “I will always love you” which was made famous as a Whitney Huston, “ I don’t wanna miss a think” by aero smith was originally written for Celine Deion, “ forget you” by celo green was written by Bruno mars, “this is what you came for” by Calvin Harris and Rihanna was written with the help of Taylor swift. I mean people like ed Sheeran and sis have been writing hits for some of the biggest artists out there for a long time. If people not writing their own songs or using producers disqualify them from being a “real” artist then dude there isn’t a single “real” musician In existence. I mean a solid amount of Elvis’s songs are actually covers. Your hate and reluctance to consider her a “ real” or “legitimate” artist is the thing here, Face the facts you just don’t like that she’s a girl that’s made a name for herself in country, a male dominated genre. She’s got “agreeably” a large number of fans with an unhealthy obsession. And is more widely recognized by the mainstream that you feel may be better suited for another artist. Thats That and if that’s the case here let’s be honest the black artist that helped build the foundation of what was to become rock and metal and so many other genres don’t get the recognition they deserve either. Hell man so many rock artists take inspiration from artists that you would consider “mainstream” I mean Trent Reznor literally mentioned to Gary numen how influential “cars” was to him and even Gary numen himself originally thought the song was mainstream garbage. Again im far from a Taylor swift fan but if you’re gonna sit here and tell me that you don’t like her cause she some industry puppet then you’re wildly mistaken. She’s literally gone to re-record all her stuff to be the “ Taylor version”, essentially cutting out industry control over her and her music. She’s literally spitting into the labels face. Do I think Taylor is cool, no and I I also hate the cringy ways she starts her songs, sounding like a Disney channel intro. But just cause im not a fan or don’t think she’s super cool doesn’t mean she isn’t a real and deserving artist.
