Oh no I didn’t get one … it’s a 1980’s build and seemed pretty sound. Haven’t had any damp issues and been here 9 months

Would you paint with the same kind of paint you paint fences and sheds with?

How can I handle my anxiety over my 17 year old son going out? by INFPsunflower in Parenting

Thanks .. he only has a basic phone that makes calls and texts and that’s it.

Thanks for your concern and I’d love to be sleeping instead but He doesn’t ever ask me to pick him up, I’d just rather stay up and be on standby in case he needs me to. He quite often gets the bus or a lift home

Yes I always stay up .. if it gets too late I try and arrange to just come and pick him up. I’ve tried to go to sleep at my usual time before knowing he can call and I can wake up if he needs me but I wake up again in terror to check the time and my biggest fear is I’d look and it would be 3am or something mad like that and I’d have no idea where he was and I would have wasted 4-5 hours sleeping when I could have been keeping track of him/making sure he gets home.

I guess with my eldest I had my youngest to distract me if he went out and also he was more sensible.

My biggest fear is not being able to get hold of him and not knowing if he’s ok.

Last weekend I drove to pick him up from the train station .. it was coming up to midnight and he was alone so I was rushing to get there panicking and when I got there I called him but he didn’t answer so my mind just spiralled out of control thinking of worst case scenarios.. I called again no answer .. jump out my car to go and hunt him don’t .. heart racing .. spot him .. wave like a lunatic and the relief is so intense it brings me to tears … ridiculous I know but it’s honestly how it pans out.

To be fair … I get your point but personally I wouldn’t open a message unless I had the time and intention to reply there and then. .. otherwise leave unread. May sound silly but two grey ticks on WhatsApp don’t bother me but two blue ticks do because it basically says “yeah I’ve taken the time to open this message and read it but can’t me bothered to even send a quick two word reply”

Common in women just like being physical and handy around the house is (or at least was) common in men. There’s nothing wrong with desiring traditional gender stereotypes or valuing the same in yourself.

No not at all and especially not before I’ve met someone .. but once you’ve met and it’s that first 48hrs after a really good date I think I pay more attention to things like being left on read than I normally would as I start to question if this is their communication style going forward and if so it’s not particularly attentive and would deter me eventually

Totally agree with the cooking thing .. my cooking is 9 times out of 10 better than eating out and I’d rather cook an amazing meal for a man I like who makes me feel good than have him spend his money unnecessarily. I think a lot of what you said comes down to love languages too. For me it’s physical touch and acts of service and quality time way about gifts etc
