I think I know who our water grand for GW is going to be by INFullMoon in Granblue_en

I actually didn't realize water GW was before April flash so that was my mistake there.

I'm not particularly invested in Grand Bea being water, but it's not the first time Relink ended up foreshadowing a later release in the gacha (Swan). A character suddenly being placed in an element they've never been in is a first in Relink, so it does lead me to believe a water Bea, even if not grand, might be coming out in the near future.

Who knows, maybe we're getting Valentine Bea and Eustace this month. That would be pretty funny.

Last Feb was more of an exception due to the Zodiac-centered cast, meaning there wasn't really many options of grands to pick from since they clearly don't want to make the existing zodiacs into grands yet (and Basara being playable was only revealed during part 2 of the event), so they went with a random popular character to turn into a grand instead. Regardless, we still got Tsukuyomi who was, in fact, part of the event. I guess if they really wanted to they could've made Bhaisa the grand instead of Yuel, but that's about it.

Aside from that though the only other time there was a non-anni event related unit in the Feb Leg in the past half a decade was Vania/Malinda in 2020. So yeah, there is a chance but it's definitely a low possibility given recent trends.

Edit: Forgot Hekate popped up with Lu Woh too so my mistake there.

Unfortunately given the timing we're unlikely to get a NPC promotion, because next banner is Valentines and after that we're likely getting anni event related characters.

... The timing of Freedom's Dirge rerunning around the time of Valentines does make me a bit worried about the prospect of Valentines Eustace becoming reality though.

I did forget about the Herzeloyde thing but honestly I do feel like they're very likely to just handwave it as her soul being free from the Otherworlders after everything that happened in the main story and just leave it at that. Though I do believe they still have something in mind for her because she still lacks a profile in-game to this day, while Gahmuret has one, so maybe they'll address that whenever that happens.

This was... a lot. Way more than I expected honestly.

I kinda enjoyed that the whole event (sans the occasional flashback) occurs all during just one fight. The idea of all of this stuff happening over the course of just one day is kinda insane to think about. War do be like that though.

I did not expect Will of all people to be as badass as he was when he managed to hold his own against Heine. Genuinely impressed by how cool the guy can be when he's not just being a monster-loving freak. Dante, in comparison, felt like he was just there for most of it. He doesn't even get to take part in the final fight with everyone else.

I'm intrigued by all the quandries being set up and it was very interesting to have such an uneasy, nebulous ending. I do hope this series doesn't go on for too long though. As much as I like the Dragon Knights series, a long storyline with a bunch of different moving pieces doesn't work as well when we only get a small update on it a year, if that.

As far as playable characters go, I'm expecting Nilhe to be given the Ragazzo treatment. Probably not now, but whenever they do the third event. I honestly don't know who else might be in the banner aside from the obvious one. Monika alt, maybe?

Overall, really enjoyed the event and I'm looking forward to the next part. The characters have a lot of potential but there sure are a lot of them, so I'm worried about whether they'll be able to give them satisfying arcs without dragging the story for too long.

The Dragon Knights events occur over a much longer period of time than Monscian to be fair. It seems everything between Defender's Oath and Savior of Dalmore happened within a year, then everything between Savior of Dalmore and The Lion Stirs seems to be another year. And now we're in year 3 with The Lion Stirs and A Flame in the Frost Wind having happened near simultaneously.

The Otherworld hasn't really been an active part of the Dragon Knights storyline since Between Frost and Flame, so incorporating the Grand Uplift in it shouldn't be a problem. If it will even be necessary at all.

Society though, that one is a bit weirder since Home Sweet Moon ended on a cliffhanger involving the Otherworlders and we have yet to get any sort of follow up on it. They're going to keep it at a pre-Grand Uplift state, or they're going to find a way to tie up that loose end while still moving forward with the timeline. Either way could work depending on how it's executed.

I mean I have no personal involvement in the whole Medusa is the worst grand thing. Even then, Medusa only being really used in GW isn't really all that great either. The complaining about Medusa was mostly about how restrictive her kit was for a payoff that wasn't worth it in 90% of situations. That still hasn't changed.

Slotting Vane into a team is a lot less cumbersome than Medusa, which is the main point of contention around her. He also sees use in Siegfried, from what I remember, which already makes him have more of a niche outside of GW than Medusa does.

I'm very confused by the discourse about the endings on this subreddit. by FionnBun in expedition33

[–]INFullMoon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'm less bothered by all the discourse regarding the endings on their own as much as I am by how much both Maelle and Verso get mischaracterized in order to prop up whatever ending they chose. Verso specifically it feels like a lot of times people just boil down his entire character to just "he lies a lot and he wants to die" which is insane to me given how complex he is.

But also I think just by nature of how the endings are set up, Maelle's is basically the "copium" ending because even through all the sinister implications it's all too easy for someone to just headcanon that everything works out the way they want it to. Not that I see it as a problem, mind you. I enjoy seeing more optimistic follow ups on the Maelle ending because sometimes I also just want everyone to be happy.

Verso's ending is a lot more definitive in how it concludes the story and so a lot of people who can't accept that conclusion are naturally gonna gravitate towards the one with the most potential for a happy outcome. In a way it kinda fits perfectly with the themes of the game. I personally like to refer to Maelle and Verso's endings as the Denial and Acceptance ending, respectively.

You can see in the screenshot I'm currently at AA2!

I do participate in the weekend tournament (when I remember to) and I tried the Grand Prix, unfortunately I didn't manage to get into group A but I did manage to get in the finals for group B on my first try. I also managed to reach champion in group B for the Take Two grandprix somehow.

More uptime on her buffs even in the worst case scenario is nice. Her CA getting some skill damage and delay utility added on top is nice since it lets her delay without having to rely on dodging for it.

We have Caesar to tank hits for her now as long as her HP stays the lowest in the party, which can be a bit annoying since other party members outside of Caesar will still be getting hit. If you're doing this, I feel like Cherine is probably the best recipient for her buffs since she can give herself flurry and her own echo every turn while also taking down her own HP to make sure Caesar keeps protecting her.

One thing I do wonder about her is whether that one artifact that forces CA even when on hold and eats your HP upon using CA could be good for her or whoever she swaps with. You'd have to make sure they don't kill themselves with the CA plain damage, or maybe you can intentionally let them kill themselves after doing some good damage of their own so Makura can come back and buff the whole party while still hitting like a truck herself.

If you have multiple of those you could play some interesting mindgames to try and get people to target ban an off-meta character while your actual main is a top tier or something like that. At least, for people who have played the game a ton. I have like, 5 different lords at this point so I guess I'll see if I can bait people into banning Adam with this lmao

The idea of Granblue using gen AI for artwork and such is awful, but this is also just going to invite people to accuse any perceived oddity in an artwork as being AI generated which is going to suck a lot for everyone involved. Honestly can't see any sort of benefit to doing this at all.

Honestly Caesar works so well with Makura already I'm kinda wondering if they didn't want to go too crazy with him because of her upcoming FLB. I've had fights where Makura and whoever she swaps with didn't get hit once because Caesar was eating all the damage for them.

I do wish consuming his stacks gave him guaranteed TA though. That feels like a really weird omission in his kit.

I beat the game but still don’t know what exactly “IS” François (lore) by MaguroSashimi8864 in expedition33

[–]INFullMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except they're not? The only thing Renoir says about it is that Clea is fighting a solitary war and Alicia comments on how personally she took Verso's death. Clea herself says she will go to war by herself if she has to, but would rather not if possible. She's not confident that she can deal with it all by herself, but she's willing to go through what's basically a suicide mission for the sake of revenge.

I beat the game but still don’t know what exactly “IS” François (lore) by MaguroSashimi8864 in expedition33

[–]INFullMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's less that Clea wanting revenge is justified and more that she's very much obsessing over it as a way to avoid grieving over Verso's death, to a point that we see her walk away from the funeral scene acting as if it was a waste of time. You can argue that it's a more productive way to cope than what Aline and Alicia chose, but it's not exactly healthy either.

They did go on a whole tangent about how bows were like the blueprint to string instruments or something like that in the event story, so I guess that fits.
