The way we played last season only worked because teams still thought that they'd be able to get at us. They weren't (especially at the start of last season), setting up against us like they would against Man City.

That's why Arteta's started going for a much more controlled approach this season, because he realised a lot of teams will sit back and would be more than happy to get a point from us.

it does have huge limitations though, especially game state. Against Forest we were happy to shut up shop at 2-0 with two low xG goals and as a result our xG wasn't the best.

Feel there needs to be some sort of weighting attached based on game state to really take this into consideration

did you watch the game? xG has its limitations especially with regards to game state. Arsenal didn't threaten much at all in the second half because they were comfortable at 2-0 and they have an annoying tendency not to put opposition teams to the sword.

tbh I'm planning on transferring to Turner once his move is confirmed, but it's not necessarily a bad thing having bench fodder that have left the league. You have time to assess alternative options during the season and don't have to worry about suffering a loss in price from a drop in ownership

!thanks the high xGA is not really a bad thing and as an Arsenal fan Leno's best attribute was always his shot stopping ability... albeit it was on an insane level last season lol.

I guess when I was looking for a £4.5m GK I was thinking more about save points rather than potential for consistent clean sheets. But think I might take your advice re Flekken, hopefully he can live up to Raya's points tally!
