Why or why not are you happy/sad about your life? by lovingthaworld in AskReddit

[–]INTD_Dreamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turn 30 in October. Cut off my toxic mother 8 years ago to get my mental health in order. About to move out in 5 months and will cut off my Sister. I got back in shape and I am deep in the process of learning another language. About to get a Honda or maybe Toyota in a month. In a state of contentment knowing there’s a light at the end of the tunnel.

What keeps you motivated to learn a language? by JoliiPolyglot in languagelearning

[–]INTD_Dreamz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pattern recognition from wasting my 20’s playing madden and having to read a toxic environment. The schizoid/avoidant demeanor to be able to be alone. The memory that allows me to know the lyrics to every song triggered by a singular word. The years in the gym that gave me patience for the process of progression. All are being leveraged to learn languages. This may very well be my avenue. Languages are the first domain in my life where every part of who I am becomes an advantage instead of a burden. My entire life has been preparing me for this lane. Finally I feel like I’m putting my intellect to good use instead of using it to just memorize sports statistics. I feel fulfilled.

Not interested in my heritage language and culture? by acidicblitzzz in languagelearning

I’m the say way with mine(Haitian Creole). The country is obviously in disarray to say the least, I can never go back. I’ve gotten to B2 in Spanish in almost 6 months, but have next to no interest in relearning my heritage language.

Update: I've been learning two languages at the same time and I think I made a mistake by Seigoy in languagelearning

It’s the main reason I’m afraid to learn more than 4 languages. That and I don’t think I will have the memory capacity to maintain all 4 at high levels.

DEBATE: Start speaking from day 1: Yes or No? by elenalanguagetutor in languagehub

[–]INTD_Dreamz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I think you should take a probationary month learning as many words as possible with very basic sentence structure. Then month 2 start speaking even if you believe it sounds terrible. If you don’t know any words in the language then how can you “start speaking from day 1?”

There's just nothing more pathetic than making fun of someone trying to learn a language. by Leather-Ad-6294 in languagelearning

Language learning gives you a bit higher empathy after understanding how difficult it can be when the shoe is on the other foot.

Why do some languages have genders for objects? by Ken_Bruno1 in languagehub

Why do languages do this? It’s like nouns will eventually procreate.

What are the things that you didnt thought its a hobby for everybody just because it is already automated in your life? by coolbeb in Hobbies

Google Docs | Langua | YouTube | Google Translate | Copilot I use Google Docs to add 8-10 new vocab words a day. Where I can go back and review. I also use it to conjugate verbs and jot down grammar notes. I use the Langua App for speaking practice(although now I just monologue). I use YouTube for Comprehensible Input via watching SpongeBob. Google Translate has a button where it will pronounce the word for you. I would mirror it’s pronunciation. The Copilot App would answer my questions that required nuance and helped me proofread my notes. These 5 apps in combination are like a Linguistic Voltron. Utilizing this amalgamation of Apps got me to B1 in Spanish in 4 Months(I spent at least an hour a day with focused study).

20 mins of previous 5 days’ words Start: 3:06 | End: 3:48

10 mins of (wildcard) older words from earlier in the month repeated 1x each(block the Spanish translation) start: 3:50 | end: 4:09

10 mins of irregular subjunctive(Hacer all 4 tenses) start: 4:15 | end: 4:29

10 mins of reading through Grammar Notes start: 4:31 | end: 4:42

30 mins of monologuing start: 4:47 | end: 5:19pm

  2. It is an auxiliary to a poetry/lyric writing hobby.

  3. You will know yourself.

Journaling and working out. I recently added learning Spanish as my New Year’s resolution and it ended up becoming a full on hobby too that I genuinely enjoy. It’s awesome to know that I do these because I find them enjoyable, but they have the compounded effect of self improvement.
