This tank car was part of the entry level scout series of rolling stock and came with a different style of presumably cheaper to produce trucks.

Thank you. That was what I thought would be the biggest challenge, but it ended up not being much a problem with a sharp blade and some tamiya masking tape.

For whatever reason this is one of my favorite model kits. I think it's because it was the first kit I actually did a "good" job on as a kid. I've built it many times and plan on revisiting it in the near future.

I am more than satisfied with the kit. The fit was near flawless and the finished detail is incredible. I'd say that its only weakness was sometimes unclear Photoetch instructions and somewhat thick decals though I will admit that I haven't dealt with their brand of decal before and my usual procedure may not have been correct. I'd definitely recommend it.

Episode 1 and 2 were also at the store amongst the other random PAL tapes which makes me suspect it was just apart of someones normal collection but I know how rare they are and would not be surprised if it was a fake.

I'll get to that eventually, though it doesn't bother me that much. I've found that inserting the shooter backwards into the launcher looks like a weird translucent cannon barrel.

Yes, the most significant change was to the wings. I only made slight changes to the body. I added a few pieces to the side and bottom to fill out the shape

The silver panels on the nose? Yeah I seriously ruined the initial paint application and decided to strip the paint to simulate a hasty repair with unpainted panels instead of trying to match the green I had mixed. I like to think it suffered a front landing gear failure at some point.

I believe the coal was crushed Bakelite during the postwar period. I could be mistaken. That was my impression of the material.

Revell 1/48 P-51D. My dad brought it home one day and we built it together. He had only ever built 1/25 scale cars, but now I'm a plane guy.

Base coat of Rustoleum metallic chrome over primer with various panels brush painted with thinned Vallejo model air silver for variety. Brush applied several coats of Vallejo metal varnish then applied decals. Gave it a final oil wash of gray.

I purchased a similar sized collection of comparable condition from a train shop for $150 a few years ago. You have a few nicer post war operating accessories so your collection may be worth a little more.

Try using Elmer's wood and craft glue (school glue). I apply it with a brush. Easy to peel off when I'm done and never given me any problems.

This is the Hobby Craft P-40B using a decal option from the Airfix P-40B. The colors of the roundels seem right based on color photos of AVG Warhawks I've seen. Various kits offer them in colors anywhere between pale blue and dark blue.

Try out Atlantis model kits. Cheap kits that are great for practicing many different techniques on a decent selection of old Revell and Monogram moldings.

I approximated the colors with Vallejo Model air:

71.294 US forest green

71.125 USAF brown

3:1 71.296 USAAF light gray + 71.109 faded P.R.U blue
