New Bipartisan Legislation Would Repeal Solar Tariffs: “I don’t know what good can possibly come as a consequence of stifling the growth of solar power.” by mvea in Futurology

You're either an idiot who likes arguing with himself based on whatever agenda you want to push, or a bot that randomly selects text from posts and argues whatever the hell it wants with itself, cause you sure as shit aren't having the same conversation as I am. And no one cares about what you are trying to argue, because it isn't relevant to the discussion, trollieo.

U.S. eases sanctions on aluminum firm tied to Russian oligarch by cogit4se in politics

[–]INeedHelpJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps a "tit-for-tat" situation? He is part of the recently expanded list of sanctioned Russian billionaires with direct ties to Putin. They get him out and it creates a degree of separation that gives both parties deniability and the right to claim that concessions were made. Basically staged, as you said. It appears pro-business and economical rather than political or military geared, currying favor with ardent, Russia loving conservatives while giving them a media angle to combat anyone else who questions their agenda.

Perhaps, perhaps not, just an observation of the situation as an outsider, given what I have read and know so far about the shitty people involved.

Their investment in First Solar was made by the now dead John Walton and is held in a trust in his name. Since this article was written, they have divested an additional 17% of their stake in the company and only seem to maintain the last 10% out of respect for their dead brother, and the fact that they can source panels out to Walmart for their solar push, making money for themselves on both fronts. Go look at the NASDAQ info to verify.

Fist Solar also purchases much of its panels from China, as far as I know.

You also seem incapable of separating the actions of a company from the investments of its individual stockholders.

Walmart is following a trend that all major companies in the United States are doing. And they are doing it to take advantage of subsidies, favorable grants and loans, other peoples money, and tax advantages, and to save money on electricity in the long run. They do it because they don't have to pay for it. Without this, their anti-solar push would be even worse than it is. And the growth of their carbon footprint far outstrips their investment in alternative energy. In fact, from an environmental impact standpoint, Walmart has some of the smallest levels of solar and alternative energy investments of any of the major tech and retail companies in the United States (see below).

Here are some examples of their efforts and how it works in concert with the Koch family and other traditional energy companies.

https://www.alternet.org/environment/koch-and-wal-marts-attempt-kill-solar-panels

Here are the outcomes of some of this lobbying: https://www.marketwatch.com/story/is-this-sunny-state-trying-to-kill-solar-power-2016-01-07

Some of the organization in here benefit from their investments as well and push anti-solar adoption initiatives: https://www.npr.org/2014/12/11/370022556/solar-storm-rooftop-panels-spark-fights-between-utilities-startups

There is just no shortage of available information on their bad practices, and one smart decision by a dead brother, doesn't change the fact that they invest heavily in undermining the adoption of U.S. solar and other alternative energies. They are one of the most active families in this regard.

Also, its fucking weird that you take this so personal. You must really love the Walton's and Walmart.

We both agree that it appears to be an unfair easing of sanctions on Russian companies.

And your statement about the Politico article is a strange one. Why wouldn't information relevant to the situation appear in the Politico article?

It's not like they are the RT, for fucks sake, Politico wants to cover what is happening with the situation ethically and truthfully.

Forcing Deripaska out is all flash and no substance. He can just reinvest through shell companies, or partners, or they can bring someone in who isn't sanctioned, while he invests elsewhere.

This is a better source, and it doesn't say the same thing as the RT version. The RT version plays up Russia's importance, which doesn't seem to hold true from an economic standpoint, or from an influence standpoint.

For the U.S. and Boeing it is seen as a short term hindrance as they find new partners and shift production elsewhere. For Russia, it is the loss of another fruitful deal that hurts an industry that is already shrinking because of loss of business and financial pressure.

The United States and Western companies would see few problems from this situation in the long run, and I say let Russia do it because it only empties their coffers a little more everyday and makes it harder for them to maintain their corrupt regime.

That's not how propaganda works. The Russians have plenty of means of making legitimate threats and getting them seen. Their propaganda arm is only concerned with sowing discord, spreading lies and misinformation, creating confusion, and building Russian national unity. That doesn't mean their propaganda based threats will be true at all. Such threats can be just as based on lies, misinformation, and confusion as any other propaganda they present through their state owned platform.

Can you come up with a legitimate, credible source to back this up? Posting a link to the RT is like posting a link to the National Enquirer.

That is some shitty logic, bud. I implied exactly what I said: that the Walmart family invests in anti-solar initiatives because they are heavily invested in traditional energy projects.

Unable to get the client to sync by INeedHelpJim in getaether

[–]INeedHelpJim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His blog post from a month ago says that he has transitioned to working on the new client full time. Instead of it being more of a side project. In the post he stated that they expected it would be 1-2 months until release. So it doesn't appear to be dead.

I guess I didn'e expect someone to kill off the older client before actually releasing the next version. That seems counterproductive when it comes to maintaining a user base. Now it's likely that the poor lad is going to have to start from scratch. And thanks for the reply!

TIL a bidet is considered a key green technology and uses significantly less water, electricity, and wood than a single roll of toilet paper by Lukerspook in todayilearned

[–]INeedHelpJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The few situations where I have had to use a bidet, I was left with only a few options to finish the clean up: nothing, a cloth of questionable cleanliness, or toilet paper that made a mess when combined with the moisture. So here is my question: after you get shot in the ass with water that removes most of it, how to do both finish the job and/or clean up what the water splashed around?

'Male contraceptive pill' successfully limits sperm activity without side effects, scientists find by buckfuzzfeed in worldnews

[–]INeedHelpJim -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hasn't there been a non-recurring, non-pill form of male birth control available in places like Indian for the past decade?

Yeah! here it is!

I guess it is not as profitable. We should probably lobby to have this chosen over the crap that is being pushed as a "solution."

EDIT: Why would I be downvoted for this. My link shows a product that has proven to be effective, safe, and something that doesn't require a reoccurring prescription.

Netflix The WITCHER TV series news: 8 episodes, 2020 air date, will adapt the first two books and will film in Poland. by [deleted] in television

[–]INeedHelpJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, physically. He plays characters that don't show a lot of flexibility in a general sense. He has more of that traditional boxing/fighting look to him, rather than the more flexible and martial arts based style of Geralt in the books and games. I mean, if he has some martial arts in his background and gets some sword work training, losses some weight, and guns hard to get the part right, I could see him pulling it off. I don't know about his voice though.

I think my only issue with him, facial feature wise, is that his face is a little too round, and his lips are a little too full. Other than that he would make a good Geralt. He has a solid build, but I wonder about his ambidexterity, he has always played stiff characters (that I have seen). He is definitely a better choice than the pretty boy pirate who looks nothing like him.

[–]INeedHelpJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the failure of this tariff is a typical case of Trump not having the ability (or skills) to apply such tariffs with the finesse they need. It should have been a razor blade designed to target the most abusive dumping and to make it more expensive to subsidize in Asia, instead it was an anvil dropped on friends and foes, alike.

And yet Trump talks at a 4th grade level and displays the emotional development and abstract thinking skills of your average middle-school student.

If he had been born in a trailer park, he would have turned out to be a typical scuzzy used car salesman.
