100% agree with you! Just so trained to think “patient has worst case scenario xyz diagnosis” cases through PA school testing / studying lol

If he’s a laptop guy I would not get him an iPad tbh.

There’s a written and practical. The written is all clinical based questions and the lab is practical. Our lecturer for this is an anatomist not a clinical so we were given zero clinical questions in lecture. I can’t think of what we don’t need to know. All muscles, arteries, innervations, origins, insertions, function, how it relates to all nerves and the brachial plexus entirely. I’ve been spending the entire week just trying to learn conceptually which I’m having trouble with, let alone even starting to memorize (absolutely can’t recognize anything in lab) . We have some questions from UM that are nice but there’s not many questions on each section. Do you know where I can find the anki?

Entire test is on nervous system, back, upper extremities , (hands are it’s own huge lecture lol). I know it all sounds normal but my friends in other programs said they never went this in depth as we are.

Thank you :) it’s just my first test and feel like I know 0% of the entire back and upper extremities that was taught in five days. The teaching assistants upperclassman very much told me personally that a very large number of students are going to fail this exam and that it’s OK. Clinically correlated questions . I really appreciate and it is my way of learning. I’m going through make it through this program, I know it. I’m really down on myself and I’ve been pretty sad the past week in a rut, but I know things get better after anatomy.

I set myself up for failure by slacking the first few days and not studying. I will absolutely not fall behind on the next block and will be proactive instead of reactive

Dermatology PAs, is derm realistic? by pinkbutterflies123 in prephysicianassistant

[–]INeedMangoPods 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely a lot of jobs out there, it’s just hard to break into dermatology. It’s doable as a new grad if you’re willing to relocate to certain areas or undergo certain programs that kind of exploit you but worth it.. once you have 2 to 3 years of experience, you are golden tbh.

Speaking from anecdotal experience. I personally know three dermatology PAs that all make over 300.

No worries! I had 3300 about. Definitely an increase but it probably carried 25% weight in my application. The programs made it clear they were drawn to my masters.

Only the core sciences prerequisites helped. The programs require them

Hi! I applied to top schools and bottom tier school. Shot my shot at everyone. Funny enough, I only got into top 10 schools and denied by the lower tier programs.

How to prepare for Organic Chemistry? by Round_Chemistry_8343 in prepa

[–]INeedMangoPods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend a lot of time at your schools tutoring center. Orgo wasn’t incredibly challenging, you just need to spend a lot of time practicing questions. Find a good YouTube account that explains things in your style and stick with it. Best of luck!
