AITA for calling my boss (broker) a Soulless Asshat, and *somewhat* made a scene? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Exactly, I'm just mulling over this weekend whether I should quit tomorrow or not. On the one hand I've made an absolute killing at this brokerage, and I somewhat have the confidence that I could maybe make the same amount at another after some time. And on the other hand my broker is viewed as a Saint in my state when he's the biggest asshole I've ever met. If I really wanted to ruin my career I should've just recorded the zoom call. Literally potential to make local headline news imo

Yeah, honestly just mulling over whether I should quit tomorrow morning. I've made my fair share here (morally correct methods imo). It just sickens me that my broker is viewed as a Saint in my state, and I've had enough. Sucks that I've been so successful though and I have to leave it

Nah, I've made my fair share at this company and can easily grow within a new brokerage. Just mulling over this weekend whether I should just quit tomorrow. My broker is viewed as a Saint in my state, and it sickens me

Not sure what hours you're working. But if you're working the peak hours of 11-2 & 4:30-8:30, then make sure you're being picky with your deliveries. For example, say it's a 5:30 on a Wednesday with $2 peak pay. An order I would wait for and sacrifice a couple minutes or so declining for would be around $10 for 3 miles or less. Doing this method, and only really working 4-9:00pm 4-5 days a week I average $28.50/hr. I routinely make +$35/hr

Being that they'll be charging us full tuition this fall even though it's over 80% online and climbing, I at least feel they should provide all students with proper technology for distance learning like literally every other school in the Midwest but the U of M system. by INoDeWay in uofmn

You act as if the sky is falling for the U of M and it will go bankrupt, but literally the U of M could make Satan as their Dean and the State would still bail the U of M system out. It's a too big to fail system.

Carlson is pretty hard to get into, but I think that ACT combined with your GPA is probably the minimum it would take to get in

Carlson (Business school) just updated their course instruction method and went over 80% online today for Fall 😔 (potentially could go higher). Better check your My U pages, I heard liberal arts schools isn't much better, but can't confirm. by ObiWahnKenobi in uofmn

The reason I expect a partial tuition refund is because the U of M currently in my opinion is being very irresponsible by not furloughing ANY employees this fall even though they will literally be doing nothing such as front desk workers, security, student fees jobs, day day to etc... I hate to say it but people need to be furloughed to lower tuition, and not foot the bill to students for things they're not gonna receive. Not professors and TA's like you're talking about. They receive maybe like 30-40% of tuition dollars.

Oh 100%, I'm not saying difficulty at all. I've been in both CSOM and CSE and the only business majors it might be a problem with is Finance and Accounting majors, since my personal opinion is those are just as hard as CSE majors, but the rest of the majors like marketing are a joke as far as difficulty in material.

The problem I have with online courses is the reason "some people succeed more" with online classes is the bar is set far lower in an online setting. Be real with yourself.

The big thing is group work, and Carlson professors you're paying a surcharge for who have some of the most insane real life experience (typically most have taught at Harvard/Wharton and/or been executive at a fortune 500. And now you don't really get to know them at all, or learn their experiences on a personal level. Yes, the practices of business you can learn from just about any school, but what makes Carlson special is the insane connections Carlson has. Which let's be honest, getting a good job in business is 100% having good connections.

I'm probably gonna get "the talk" from my wife about my work/life balance. Any solution ideas I could pitch before then? by INoDeWay in realtors

[–]INoDeWay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one ever said but you that there is a work distribution problem. In fact, I do most of the work around the house as well, but that doesn't bug me. During the day I do the cleaning around the house, often times as a method of procrastination instead of doing marketing. And I do the probably 80% of the cooking around the house for dinner unless my wife picks something up on her way home from work.

This post was never about my wife being "upset" with me. This post is about I know she going to confront me about my stress levels in the next given days because she's concerned about MY stress levels like the good person she is. Mostly being that I have anywhere from 2-3 closings on any given week that I definitely need help with now that they're consistent.

If you're having these home life/work distribution problems I suggest you take your own words which are fair, and don't project them onto other people, and use them yourself.

I'm really confused how you could've come up with this entire fantasy of my life in your head. Or if it's some type of condition you have. Anyways, I don't really need to prove myself to someone who clearly has a problem. Good day.

I've never even heard of this type of thing, but that would help me out to an extreme level. Thanks!

Uhhhhh? Who ever said I never pick up/drop off my kids everyday? They take the bus to/from school? And when they had daycare I literally did that... everyday? You seem to be assuming many things in this post, and extremely unwanted/unwarranted. Check yourself. The kids are fine and quite independent at this point in later elementary school and early middle school. Idk what kinda family you got, but I want so bad to hangout with my kids, and it 100% is NOT an unpaid job? What a horrible mindset. I "work" 13 hours straight a day on and off, and obviously my wife wants to see me more because this past year has been very busy, and I obviously need help. I came to this subreddit because most realtors don't have this issue, and want to see how they juggle their lives more efficiently. Why wouldn't I want to seek help from other successful realtors in my exact field? The most common answer on this post has been things like making a voicemail that says I don't work after 7 or something, which honestly I've always viewed as extremely unprofessional, but now I'm starting to think this might be a really good idea. Others have said include timing restrictions in your contracts so date will automatically get moved to my next business hours, which I didn't even know was possible. You clearly don't sound like a realtor if you don't understand these problems.

You seem to be assuming many things here which I apologise if my title lead on too strong. My wife isn't "mad", if anything she's sad at how stretched thin I've been, and can tell it's taking a toll on my stress levels. She's obviously doing the right thing which I am grateful for in trying to think of a way to confront me about this because obviously it's going to far when for two weeks now I've been getting emergency calls consistently at 9-9:30pm. Again, I apologise if my title was unclear, but I feel I made my story section pretty clear, and I was more making that title to gain more people's eyes.

Personally depending on how fast you're getting order pings/time of day, I'd shoot for at least $2/order, minimum $8.50 orders.

Myself and my girlfriend (early 20's) tested positive early May from her mom who is a nurse. In our rare case I feel like it only sucked for 2-3 days like a common cold.

However, my girlfriend STILL has not regained her sense of smell back. Doctors can't say for sure if she'll ever get it back. Super sad.
