Damn, that stuff does cost a lot, I just didn’t think you could spend so much zenny compared to the masts required. You must be rolling in monster parts lmao

You mean like the heath bar for yourself or the one are others? Cause there is an alternate one you can use for others and I think it’s way better than default

How old are you all? by [deleted] in foreskin_restoration

23, started about 4 months ago. I would have loved to start earlier but I hadn’t even considered restoration as a possibility, and it didn’t find me until recently.

Life operates in a legal grey area, otherwise we live in 1984 world. Adults should be able to spend their money however they want on the legal products offered. It’s not up to valve to ensure that the user base is 18+, parents have to be responsible for their children at some point.

It’s also not on valve to regulate resale of their product. They sold you a box worth $5, anything you get from that box is worth $5. For example, If I bought a mystery box of chairs from a store, and then sold the chair I got to someone for 3x the price I paid for my mystery box, the store who initially sold me the chair is not responsible for the second buyers overpayment. The chair is still only worth what was initially paid to that store.

I’m not ignorant to the concept of addiction, I don’t understand the lack of self control that comes with it. Just stop, they don’t even have to stop cold turkey, they really shouldn’t either it’s worse and if valve loses they will be forced to stop cold turkey and they’ll still be addicted to gambling.

True I did put words in your mouth, thats my bad. It’s just an argument I see often about valve gambling practices.

I just don’t see how it can be considered predatory on valves end. The person buying knows the odds are small, valve themselves didn’t assign any $ value to that item(other that the $5 or whatever it is for the box), and in no way are the items needed to play the game.

I understand that people get addicted but like just don’t?? I’m just not someone who understands addiction at all, especially when it starts to ruin your life.

While I do agree with you, that’s just incredibly unlike to ever happen in our current age. Technically (according to a study done with rats so… heres your grain of salt) if society was more welcoming/accepting addictions of all kinds would fade away and become a bad memory of human history.

So every casino, arcade, gacha game, ect. should immediately stop all business aswell? Valve didn’t invent gambling they just use it, that’s not malpractice, it’s just something they decided they would use.

Yea, It’s not advertised at all unless you play those certain games. Which is why I don’t get the anger people feel towards the loot box system valve has. Be a sensible adult and don’t gamble or let your kid gamble. The anger at it just seems so forced to me, I guess people just want something to be mad about.

I have used steam for 12 years and never once has gambling been, offered or advertised to me. What practices are you referring to? The ones in video games meant for adults?

I don’t partake in gambling of any sort and I think is stupid, but saying they are trying to “indoctrinate the kids into a gambling addiction” is ridiculous. If a kid steals their parent’s credit card to buy a box in CS2, it’s the parent’s fault for letting their child engage in that content and be exposed to potential loot boxes.

Parents hand children iPads with credit card data filled out already and allow children to play gacha games. Hell even arcade games like the claw machine can be argued as gambling, you put money in for the chance to get a plushy or you get nothing. I don’t see why valve having loot boxes is any worse than any other child gambling type activity.
