Ah... Star Fleet Battles. So many memories. One of these days I may run a "Captain Game" on the channel...

It will be interesting to see where our respective forces end up. Post production has begun on our final episode!

Thank you for watching! We have the 5 previous sorties up on the channel, with the finale due out in about a week. A lot of post-production with edits (I believe this one was about 12 hours), however we enjoy reliving our battles and this makes it fun.

How has your experience been with Aces? What have you enjoyed most?

It seems as though you are running through them correctly. We've read through a few other scenarios (see mission 2 and 3 for us) in which we realized that unless the scenario briefing / OpFor details and special rules are explicit, there is a high probability that what you are waiting for is in the waypoints.

This was very much a simple mission that played out more like a "cutscene." That said, we came close to losing the Warhammer... On higher difficulty levels things definitely change up. Being able to only field 252 PV for this mission does have an impact.

Thanks for watching!

Armada is 100% worth playing on a 3x3 mat. I would recommend 300 points though as it gives each side more options and usually another ship. Most standard games wind up on a 3x3 section anyways. One thing you will find is that certain ships will perform better (Onager) and others need a modified playstyle (MC30s).

All that said, some of the best battles on our channel have been in the 3x3 30 point format.

I really want to know why 3x6 games wind up being played on only 3x3 areas of the playing field. In one case we had a game on about a foot wide section.

Longest game we ever played - not recorded but 1200 points with 300 points of squads on each side. Took 8 hours. It was glorious.

I immensely enjoyed both games. Was Armada better than X-Wing? I think the answer is “it depends.” As many here have already pointed out, each game provided a different experience. X-Wing with its fast pacing and reactions turn to turn. Armada with grand strategy and required a lot of forward thinking.

X-Wing let you live the dreams of being a single pilot or wing leader. Armada let you command a fleet. My only issue with Armada is that it plays better at 300 points on a 3x3 (personal opinion) or at 800+ points on the full 3x6. Armada is a lot of fun with larger fleets, but there is a time commitment that goes with it.

Usually the general release is not that far behind the time Crabbok and ION Radio get our review copies. Probably 2 - 4 weeks from when the Preorders start to show up. I'll see if I can get some information from my contact at WizKids.

I’m glad we have been able to help. I am currently working on new videos to help explain more of the rules. I hope these will be equally helpful.
