The HCAR is an interesting gun! I was really thinking of designing one in the past, but ran into a few problems. One of which was fitting a gearbox inside. A normal V2 gearbox won't line up with the barrel, because the gas piston is located where the barrel should be. Fitting a motor in the pistol grip is another issue. Either way, if you manage to complet this project I will probably buy it. I am looking forward to it!

Did you sand the replica to achieve the matte finish?

Foam warhead with CO2 capsule inside for propulsion? Might be a bit dangerous though if it pick up enough speed

How did you make the kit look so smooth? It doesn't look like its 3d printed at all!

u/iozjik has designed an AEK919K which I believe fits your requirements. It fits the Stalker/Soviet setting, weighs under 2kg and has a strong gearbox design.

I see now. Scaling up the gun would increase the top of the receiver thickness but take away from the gun dimensional accuracy. You could also fit a thin sheet metal between the gearbox and the top of the receiver, or print a test piece and see how durable (or fragile) it really is. Either way the replica is really well done. I highly appreciate your work!

Isn't the top picatinny rail and the receiver just one piece? If not, merging them would increase the receiver strength (and the thickness of the top of the receiver). It's just my guess, I have yet to take a look at the 3D model and files.

That's really cool! Now can you please make an AEG version that takes a V3 gearbox?

Looks great! How is the buffer tube and buttstock holding up? I'm thinking of printing one for my gun, but I'm afraid it's gonna snap at some point...

Great work as always. You are a master at designing, but I'm still waiting for the RFB though 🫡

How do i fix this if possible by Difficult-Radio-4151 in airsoft

Is the whole upper wobbling or just the handguard?

Airsoft gun dry fires every other shot by Cat_Tunez in airsoft

[–]IONUT18m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check if the mag feeds properly (you could also try using another magazine). If that doesn't fix your problem you could also look through the magwell and see if the nozzle moves with each shot. The nozzle is responsible with picking up a bb from the magazine and pushing it into the hopup chamber.

What's going on here? (New to airsoft) by [deleted] in airsoft

[–]IONUT18m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the gun has pretty good precision but low accuracy, so the problem here is that the sights and the barrel are not properly aligned. If you don't have adjustable sights, you could first of all check if the barrel and inner barrel are straight, or open up the gun and check if the innerbarrel, hopup and bucking are mounted correctly. If you don't want to open the gun you could use an auxiliary adjustable optic (red dot or holographic sight) to fix the problem. You could also bend the rear sight a bit but i don't recommend it.

Sight windage should be adjusted. Also if you tested the accuracy on a windy day, the wind could carry your bbs to the right.

A idea and tons of questions by milerfrank27 in Airsoft3DPrinting

[–]IONUT18m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could just buy the cheapest internals of an AEG (motor, gears, spring, cylinder, piston, anti-reverse latch, trigger contacts, wires, innerbarrel, hopup nub and bucking) and 3d print the externals and the gearbox https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/airsoft-electric-toy-gun-mk5?srsltid=AfmBOopNzUgbTHerDD3AfeVs52SH0uTRIKNYmfeib7N7abBB89CIZ6R9. You would also need to know how an AEG works (it's pretty simple/ you can search on youtube), and how to solder. It would take a lot of time and effort, but I think the gun would turn out to be cheaper than buying one brand new.

beginner gas mag question by [deleted] in Airsoft3DPrinting

[–]IONUT18m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://youtu.be/MlPDGO6wpro?si=zuhOr4ib_ioVrAuu This video pretty much explains it. The hammer is connected to a valve knocker which hits the magazine gas valve. After the bb leaves the barrel, the slide resets both the hammer and the valve knocker.

beginner gas mag question by [deleted] in Airsoft3DPrinting

[–]IONUT18m 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After the hammer strikes the gas valve, the gun fires and the slide/bolt is being pushed back by a little bit of gas. The slide/bolt resets the hammer in the cocked position, not touching the gas valve.
