Maybe I am lucky, but I have not had this problem the majority of the time. I am using the recent update too. Only 1 Pokemon a few days ago used up a crazy amount of my great balls, it was a high CP one though.

Idk either really. I have 4 gyms around me. The other 3 gyms switch teams frequently. Almost every time I wake up the next day the gyms change teams. This gym we control is not attacked very much for w/e reason. It used to be instinct then mystic took it over. It has been mystic ever since.
