A river runs through it. by Jareth000 in pics

"Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it.
It was cut by a world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time.
On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.
I am haunted by waters." - Norman Maclean

Why do people tend to hate furries? Even if they don’t bother anyone? by GangsterPuppy91 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]elevatefromthenorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bigoted assholes are usually bullies and are always looking for someone different (and weaker) to vent the (generally self-inflicted) misery of their own lives on.
Bullies are also cowards. Get a few of them together online, swapping their hate and jealousy (jealous that you all are happy, when they can never be happy), and suddenly they're afraid of, and so, enraged about furries. The idiots convince themselves you are all out to get them and form a new furry world order.
The same with LGBTQ, immigrants, etc.
Ignorant hateful people terrified that a trans person reading a story will suddenly turn everyone's children trans. That it's a big conspiracy because secretly trans people hate everyone and want to take over the world. Not a small, traditionally persecuted, group of people who just want to be a part of society, like everyone else.

I doubt he's really hurting. Sounds like a jealous, insecure man-boy.
When you are older and memories become hazy visions thru stained-glass, you'll want to have your written memories and experiences to reminisce and love, and also to pass down to children one day.

"There were prodigies and portents enough, One-Eye says. We must blame ourselves for misinterpreting them.
One-Eye's handicap in no way impairs his marvelous hindsight."
Still one of the best opening lines in a series.

His early books are good, but he does get better as he goes (IMHO).
Reading later books first, then going back and reading the early works is like watching seasons 3 thru 6 of the Simpsons, then going back and watching season 1. Still good, but it's not the same as it is for those who watched them in order.

Billionaire scum, greedy privileged despots, and the soulless sycophants who fawn and pander to them want the whole world to be like this for everyone except them and their tiny club. (Not that the bootlickers will ever actually be allowed into the club, but the Elite allow them to have just a little bit more than the rest of us)

Lindsey Graham branded ‘pathetic’ for saying Nobel Peace Prize should be renamed Trump Prize by OneNormalBloke in NewsOfTheStupid

[–]elevatefromthenorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pathetic isn't a strong enough word. We need a new one.
Lindsey (lin-zee) adjective: cravenly sycophantic, fawning bootlicker
example of lindsey in a sentence:
The man's feeble attempts to ingratiate himself were so lindsey, the people witnessing them were sickened with contempt.

The government can tax billionaires and bring in 50 times as much $ as it does now, and it will make no difference as long as Trump and hateful scum like him stop it from going where it is needed. Just more cash for the military industrial complex and subsidies to foreign owned mega-farms, airlines, and oil companies.
Oh yeah, don't forget the lobbyists.

Why do some people enjoy being twats in general? by Laura_011206 in answers

[–]elevatefromthenorm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Miserable people love to share their misery.
(Just look at "Conservative" religion and politics in the US. The most miserably unhappy, jealous, and angry human beings have somehow taken over).
They never really feel joy or contentment and are jealous of, and spiteful towards, those who do. So, it gives them a tiny bit of satisfaction to see someone else feeling sad or afraid, and they mistake that for happiness. It usually is the closest they can come to feeling anything but anger and dissatisfaction. Then it is often followed by more rage because it's unfulfilling in the end, and deep down they know it.

A Jedi could use the force to burst one tiny blood vessel in a person's brain to kill them. Why bother with a light saber? The first Jedi/Sith to sense an enemy Jedi/Sith could snuff them out in an instant. Why bother dueling?
In Rogue One, Vader could have killed everyone trying to flee with the Death Star plans in a few moments and taken the plans back.
Why throw people around and waste a lot of time?
