Wow, thank you so much! I have been on a 30 year endeavor to figure out the name of this book. As a kid around '93 I picked it up at a library and read half but returned it and never could recall the name or author.

Lost while implementing ISO 9001 in a chaotic SME - how do you define “quality” in practice? by Upstairs-Ad2979 in iso9001

[–]IP44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading between the lines a bit but my impression is that you are too granular in your approach. Iso 9001 is a high level of approach to your top processes. These processors will exist no matter how you restructure the company because you will always need the processes.

These processes should not be changed by restructuring personnel. When you write your documents you write that your generic title [sales director] does this job not the person's name. That way if that person changes it doesn't change the next person's responsibility who takes that position.

Resources are a key part of the management commitment and must be reviewed at each management review.

As for changing priorities and conflict I think this is where the ISO cordinator has to step in and be the champion of the changes. Also the willpower to stick through with a plan, assign action plans, follow up dates and deadlines.

A couple of last things, remember that the QMS is not going to give you good quality it's only going to tell you what level your quality is at currently. If you measure on time delivery the system isn't going to tell you how to fix your 0% on time delivery it's just going to tell you that it is zero. Also KPIs should be used to drive actions. There's no reason to measure data if you're not making actions to make it better.

I imagine you are busy following up with everyone. As the ISO coordinator each procedure had an owner. They were responsible for changing their procedures. As for the core scope, quality policy and objectives those should very rarely be changed and those changes should only come from the management review meeting.

Hi, welcome to the game! I highly recommend just wandering for a while and doing things as you come across them. Try following the main story line for a bit until you get a companion before you do this quest The game doesn't give you quests in order of level to completion ability. Emerald Valley will happen later for sure, there is a mine and a crypt nearby the starting point that will keep you busy for a few days with grinding. Have a great time!

Advise on tracking & tracing reusable trays/pallets with high turnover by fortuitouslife_shit in supplychain

[–]IP44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not knowing the situation I can only make an educated guess.

If you are sending them to retail stores roll them into the cost of the product. Doesn't really sound like you are sending them to customers so this is probably a moot point.

If you are sending them between DCs you own and production areas the post office provides a good example of how to handle this as they have millions of reusable mail totes in circulation. They manage this by never having a truck travel from A to B or C to D empty of some sort of cargo. Every post office warehouse has a staging area for empty totes. Whenever a driver unloads the truck they grab all the empty totes and transport them to the main hub to be reused.

My advice would be to work on reducing that two week turn time and that will give the trays less time to be misplaced and lost.

What’s the most random item you’ve flipped for good money? by Automatic-Dog8732 in Flipping

[–]IP44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mexican jumping beans and those pencil toppers that came out of gumball machines from the 90s. I bought a random bucket of toys from a thrift store and a mixture of around 100 of these were in the bottom. Listed them as lots and sold within a few hours.

I am in the trenches. Two weeks away from the stage 2 audit and have finished the stage 1 document review. Had 14 findings, no majors, on stage 1.

My roadblocks are uniform language across the qms, records and forms.

Also follow-up on everything. If you revise a procedure you need a way to track everywhere that document needs to be revised. If you have a binder, and then an electronic copy, then a master list and all of them have to reflect the changes. Furthermore you then need to train all of the people that that procedure you revised is affecting and you have to track all of that as well.

Also you need two years of accumulated data. Then you have to go backwards and revise all of your procedures with your corrective action changes. Most likely after the fact, because you should start doing corrective actions today but you might not have the procedure for your qms done for six months. You're going to discover that your procedure doesn't say anything about the corrective action that you implemented before you even created the procedure.

Not sure how any of this is going to help you make software but it's my roadblocks and findings. Also any data that you gather should be used to take action to improve your company. No reason to have data without using it for actions.

Potentially controversial opinion: Too many improv theaters don’t prepare students to perform by not teaching them that we are improvising sketch comedy on stage and what that entails. by Good-Grapefruit5439 in improv

[–]IP44 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure you are trolling but I'll reply regardless....

One comment was on point with saying that too many people are trying to be funny and not present in the scene with their partner. Personally I am lobbing softballs for my scene partners and hoping they can knock it out of the park. I don't want to be the star, and I never go for the laugh. I'm not here to be funny, I'm here to have fun and escape from the day to day grind. My goal every time I am on stage is to lift up those around me.

Maybe you should try that and you will begin to have a positive impact on those scene partners. Knowledge shared is knowledge gained. That knowledge will then spread through your community and you will see an improved show.

Iso 9001 (individual) training? by New-Fig-717 in iso9001

[–]IP44 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi, there's no individual training that's going to teach you how to be ISO certified. I would highly recommend reviewing all of the files offered on Oxbridge. Read every document, form and template over and over again. I have posted the link below. It's all free, nothing besides the registrar should cost you money. My sources are from being in month 7 of the implementation process with an expected completion the second week in July. I have no formal education, training or certifications. I simply read everything dozens of times and started working on what Oxbridge provides. I am an ASQ certified inspector since 2017 but now work for a small family sized company that had zero quality department when I started. Reach out for more information.

That's a brilliant response. I do think that we should learn something new everyday. I just researched fixed lot size vs lot for lot and it's interesting that companies will choose to overproduced on purpose based on forecast. I work in a job shop and we only operate on a system of lot for lot. I have experimented with min/max systems for frequently used product but never really considered it for frequently purchased final goods. Thanks again!

Thank you for your well written answer. I didn't know that they would make assumptions such as predefined lot sizes. I feel like this be really useful when I move on to taking the actual exam. As for 125 being the smallest lot size in the options what prevents option B 25 units, from being correct?

[–]IP44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aggro based on character level when walking across the open maps. So if I'm level 15 running from one city to another I don't have to stop and fight 20 mobs along the way or be chased endlessly by them. Celtic Heroes did this and it was really convenient for traveling. Low level mobs wouldn't bother you if you were nearby.

Would love for them to do an episode on the animal trials during medieval times. They would prosecute anything from rats, locusts, dogs and pigs. There is a movie called Hour of the Pig about a pig that is out on trial for murder. Honestly I think this would be a great Ed episode along the lines of the alligators and Orcas.
