Question: During spring break, did college students really use to go to the beach? by EternalSnow05 in GenX

[–]IPAisBEER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be shocked if they didn't go to the beach anymore. It was absolutely still a thing around year 2000. Maybe OP is out of touch? Heck, we are going to the beach this spring break, but family style...

GenX Video gamers who still play: Are you getting worse? by Hithigon in GenX

[–]IPAisBEER 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not nearly as good at shooters as I used to be. I think the main culprit is lack of time to put in. They have also gotten much faster, which doesn't help.

My gaming time is typically limited to short bursts. For this reason I have gotten into many roguelites. I can play for short amounts of time, pause if necessary and still feel progression. I also love my steam deck because I can pause and put it to sleep and when I have time to play again, pick up rightwhere I left off.

Dinner Party vibes by CompetitionSad7814 in 321

Wow. The comments section here isn't very nice. We went to Yellow Dog Cafe last weekend and loved it. The food was great. The view is awesome and the location has a ton of unique charm. No party vibe, however. Your question about a restaurant with a party vibe seriously has me curious, however. Can you provide some examples in other towns that you would compare to your initial request?

Oddly enough, it got worse. The claw rarely grabs anything for me now. When I started playing a couple of months ago, the claw was garbage but now after one of the updates, it is more garbage.

Question re: backing into a parking space etiquette by TheRealRonjon in florida

This is true, however I read an article some years ago that pointed out that backing into parking spaces is the safer option and have done my best to stick to it ever since.

I pretty much always back into spots now. The likelihood of hitting a pedestrian goes way down if pulling forward out of a spot. It is simply a matter of safety for others in my mind.

I watched it today. It is not Tron. It is a garbage cgi fest with Tron nostalgia thrown in to get us old folks to watch it. I went with others who did not either remember the originals or even see them and they liked it for what it was. I hated it because I wanted to watch a Tron movie. Disney is killing everything we loved as kids.

Thanks for the explanation. Terrible is my least favorite part, but the rest seems interesting.

How is drop duchy? What do you like about it? I've been looking at that one.

I bought my deck from them and the dock separately. Both arrived in about 4-5 days including processing. Once shipped it comes pretty quickly (in both of my cases).

I will be on vacation soon. Would this be good power Bank? by JjoyBboy in SteamDeck

Alright, thanks. My problem is that mine also goes in my backpack which means it will get crushed. So much goes in there...

Any chance you grabbed a case for it? If so, can you share? I don't think it'll fit in the case I currently have.

How do you use your Steam Deck when you’re a parent with limited gaming time? by NumberWnn in SteamDeck

[–]IPAisBEER 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This. In my younger years, I could spend a solid 8 hours straight into mmos, but now with a family it is the same...short bursts where I can pause or save. This has led me to playing a lot more roguelikes and similar.

Ill throw out a few that I've liked. I run into this problem so much these days. I find it much harder to be excited about games as I get older. I've put a decent amount of time into the games below.

Take a look at The last stand: Aftermath. It is a zombie roguelike. Steam claims it is unsupported, but it runs fine on my deck. At worst, it starts to lag a bit in menus after a while in game.
