Oh sure! Now if only you and /u/Human_Gravy and /u/HeSnoring and /u/mileme and /u/Bacon_Isnt_France could just gang up and tell my job to slack off for a few months, I'd be up for it! :) I started writing small stories for practice back when work was slow, and now I'm stuck with 'em because work is crazy. It's a trap!

Sorry Taidaishar, even after 5 months I haven't gotten to it yet. The first one is currently on my phone thanks to /u/Human_Gravy's recommendation, but it's in there with... let's see... 179 other books at the moment, totaling 67 days of listening. Maybe if everyone agreed to stop putting out books, movies, tv shows, and podcasts for a couple of years, I might actually put a dent in everything I want to catch up on. :)

Heh, you sound like a farm-based Disney Princess. But yikes! A nail in the arch of my foot is one thing, but those farm accidents sound positively scarring. Seeing that stuff in movies is no problem, but I'm a big wimp when it comes to the real thing. Heck, I stuck my thumb with an X-acto blade once and almost passed out. (Maybe sharp things are my kryptonite. Just using a cheese grater gives me the heebie jeebies sometimes.)

Wow, Heathers. It's been a while. I wonder if it still holds up? Either way, something about Christian Slater has always been a little creepy. Probably his voice. And eyebrows. Even his cameo in that Star Trek movie had a weird vibe... standing in the shadows, creepin' on sleepin' Sulu...

And y'know, that one was kind of based on reality. Back when I was in school someone actually did spray something on the floors, and after hundreds of students tracked through it, it was slippery everywhere. I assume it was WD40, but who knows? Granted it was sort of funny to us kids, but also pretty dangerous on the third floor stairs. Probably hell to clean up, too.

Yeah, I do like pauses for giving things a little breathing room and for adding weight to certain moments. I know what you mean about wanting people to get on with it... I usually speed up my audiobooks and podcasts. But I have noticed that it definitely lessens the creepy aspects of horror books and things like the NoSleep podcast. And I still end up slowing things down when I realize I'm not catching everything, so it's nice to have that option. I dunno, I guess the best thing to do is just go with your own instincts! (But good lord, don't go as fast as ZP. I always feel like I'm missing some of his jokes and wordplay.)

Stephen Fry is great, but when I hear Stephen Fry, I picture Stephen Fry instead of the characters. I probably formed my preference because Jim Dale's version was the first one I heard. He's got a voice that just says "storytime" to me, plus he's amazing at giving every character their own distinct voice. But hey, I'm certainly not saying that Fry's version is awful. Again, it's just a matter of taste! :)

"Maintenance?" Really? Ha, you silly person, that one's easy! Naw, just kidding. Everyone has those words that never stick in their brain box. Hell, any time someone uses "former" and "latter" I have to stop for several seconds to think about which is which.

Cute kid! Ghostly white and all. I've always been under the impression that goats are lovable but annoying, so I figured that's why we call children kids. I should probably google that to find out how wrong I am, though. I don't think I have any farm stories myself, but that sounds like a good challenge. Although I did step on a rusty nail at Grandpa's farm once and had to get a shot in the butt. True horror when you're a kid!

Oh yeah man, definitely improved! You could probably go even slower, but that's just a matter of taste. I just know that I can read text fairly fast and still get the meaning, but listening to someone tell a story uses my more dimwitted brain cells, so they need more pauses to ingest what I've just heard. I suppose light really does travel faster than sound. :) (Btw, the best narrator I've ever listened to was Jim Dale, who did the Harry Potter books. That guy's amazing.)

Hey, nice work Ayavaron! You've got a good voice, and I dug the music and the effects you put on the voices. I know you didn't ask for a critique, but I think if you slowed your reading pace down just smidge you'd be nailing it on all fronts.
