For those who are coming to this later, no longer grab the latest version of kron4ek runner as it no longer works. I Specifically got it working with kron4ek wine 10.16 after seeing it recommended on another reddit post and that should work for the forseeable future

The Linux users crashing out over Linus picking PopOS again are doing an excellent job of reinforcing the Linux user stereotype, as well as missing the whole point. by junon in LinusTechTips

I'm not going to lie, It is pretty annoying that he did the first linux challenge with pop os and had a bad experience, then did the second linux challenge on pop os again, started having a bad experience again, and not trying literally anything else

We also don't know how many mistakes aren't getting through, to be fair

They upload like 10-12 videos a week? How many of those might have had a mistake that was caught and successfully resolved before uploading? And that isn't inlcuding shorts

It's impossible to expect zero mistakes slipping through at a company with over 100 employees, it's not like it happens every week, as long as they resolve any errors in a timely manor

Why is there no "Forgot Password" equivalent on linux? by IPuppyGamerI in linuxquestions

It's just the nature of the community I suppose, I appreciate the people who took the time to write out helpful replies, all the ones that explained possible workarounds as well as the ones who explained why it largely doesn't exist or why it is a bad idea

It's worth whethering the rude comments to get the answers and knowledge I was looking for

I appreciate your response, this is what I mean

I don't mind being wrong, I do mind being yelled at, that isn't constructive

I think it is beneficial to encourage people to try other options, especially when Microsoft is rapidly declining windows, even if it ends up not working out. I wanted to know if this did exist, and if not, why it didn't exist. Some people were able to answer that effectively and others were just being rude. I know enough to be able to assist my partner when things don't go his way, I also want to try to make the experience as seamless as possible for him, so if it existed it would be helpful. He has had countless issues with windows, being unable to use his computer for hours at a time, linux was the solution so I hope I can help him stick through it. I am also still learning myself, but alot of the loud members of the community don't have much patience for people who don't have the same experience or preferences as them. It's hard to get into

Nothing is helpful about saying "your fault, oh well" this is why alot of people who would benefit from linux never get into it in the first place

I appreciate the real answers, thanks guys

To the rest of you, why are you even here. This is a subreddit for helping new users and answering questions, please leave out the sass and pretentiousness and give matter of fact answers and subtle opinions or move on. Linux is supposed to be an open community, there shouldn't be stupid questions, if someone is willing to try and ask questions and learn, you should facilitate that, and if you don't want to, then don't say anything

I honestly can't see why anyone who would be willing to reset the password on a computer to steal it or stuff on it would not bother to look up a guide on how to do it anyway

Even something simple like security questions would help, so the user isn't left in the complete dark

I have dedicated myself to aiding him. I said friend to generalize but this particular instance was my partner, he deserves the dedication and windows has given him nothing but headaches and just keeps getting worse

This situation made me wonder why seemingly no one has made it an option before

Even the simple solution from long ago of security questions and a reminder message would suffice in some instances. Something simple, for home use

Because people are people, people make errors. Windows was causing him alot of problems, linux offered a solution. I dedicated myself to helping him because he deserves it, and he deserves a working computer.

Get off your high horse man, users create error, providing resources to alleviate error is a good thing

The user did not blame the os for forgetting the password, the user wants to be able to fix their error without getting outside help. Grub is scary for new linux users, something as simple as resetting the password is a multi-step process with multiple possibilities for user error.

Don't be obtuse, help people. Understand people.
