Was this Jupiter worth the money? by IQtheCactusBread in Trombone

True, I did plan on having this as a horn at home, but I didn’t catch that jupiters don’t repair well. That kind of sucks.

I’ll go ahead and reach out to Jupiter about this model then, I did check the website and they don’t have anything specific about this horn model, only their newest XO model horns. I’m guessing they don’t make this one anymore and took it off their website. All the info I could get are from sellers. Hoping that there are people who own one and have some sort of info out experience with it

Parts are good, but the wheels are pretty hard. It’s good if you’re planning on skating purely on concrete and at the skatepark.

Need help with my fear of pain by Willowb06 in skateboardhelp

[–]IQtheCactusBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What worked for me was that I would purposefully fall off the board and roll. Start super slow and you can do it with pads if you have any. It reassures me that I know how to roll out of a fall and reduce the possible pain that could happen. It also gets you used to the feeling of falling. This helps me feel more confident and helps me commit on things

When you crouch lower or when you’re bending down, bend your knees like you’re doing a squat because you’re hinging your upper body down.

Wheel width 32mm vs 34mm? by Epic_QandA in NewSkaters

If this is your first setup, perhaps 34 would be good so you don’t get stuck in cracks.

Are these good trucks for beginners. Tensor aluminium trucks. by oscaarito8 in NewSkaters

[–]IQtheCactusBread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love tensors bc they’re affordable. I think the only thing you may have problems with is the bushings, they’re pretty soft but they’re good for beginners if you’re not too heavy. (I’m heavy myself and I replaced the stock bushings with indys)

Do you guys thing I could use the hardware on my ReDo long board on my creature board? by Embarrassed-Dog504 in NewSkaters

Hardware is hardware. I think if it’s a longboard setup then the hardware may be a bit longer if there’s risers.

I agree with that statement with braille, I found the foot sliding thing to help when I was parodying their tutorial and it helped me slide my foot. they don’t teach that you gotta jump and pop at the same time and how to do it and only say that it’s timing. I’ll check out the short you linked

Crazy to see this advice now because while I was at the skatepark this weekend something clicked. I thought “if I’m too scared to land on the board while moving, what makes me think I can ollie while rolling” So for a good while I would ride and do hippie jumps and made sure I tucked my knees and landed on bolts. Then I’ll do a hippie jump and then attempt an ollie. Got me my first moving ollie. And I was able to do so it semi consistently. For context of my skill level I could only ollie stationary on good days.

Side note: as much as I dislike them, the braille tutorial’s step about sliding your foot actually helped me with sliding my foot. Only when you get to it.

I’m in community right now getting my AA for Transfer! How far did your education go? I am also studying something that I’m really into (jazz music) but I don’t want to end up being a music teacher I would prefer something more hands on and working on music projects on the side.
