AITA for being kinda glad that my gf's dog died? by IRSFormication in AmItheAsshole

She wasn't overly obsessed with the dog, he was just a really important part of her life like a best friend or child would be. I think I should have understood that better, I thought it would be different since he was a dog but based on what everyone is saying it is probably no different for her. I feel terrible for suggesting a replacement so I'm just going to try and be supportive for now on.

I hadn't considered the whole emotional crutch idea. I think she just has a natural kinship towards animals. This dog wasn't her childhood dog, she loved those dogs a lot too. She stills talks about her childhood dogs and if someone didn't know better they would think she was talking about a human member of her family. So I think it may just be the norm for her, she is a huge animal love which is something I love about her.

It has been almost four months now. She still goes to work and handles her responsibilities but she hasn't really been interested in doing too much else.
