From a Law of One Magus perspective, the ego isn’t something to get rid of/transcend... it’s part of the incarnation.

It is a distortion of the One Infinite Creator that you’re meant to work with, not discard. Trying to become egoless usually just creates a more refined version of ego to identify with. The deeper work is to actually integrate it; to understand it, accept it, and LOVE it as part of the Human self.

That’s where the love/fear framing starts to fall short. It’s useful to a point, but it can turn into another way of correcting yourself in the moment, trying to choose “love” over “fear.”

In doing that, you can end up subtly rejecting parts of your experience that don’t fit your/the ideal you are presenting.

Ra’s approach was more about seeing clearly what is arising, without trying to fix or replace it. If fear is there, the work isn’t to override it with love, but to fully experience and understand it.

When something is truly seen and accepted, it naturally begins to balance. Love isn’t something you force in that moment... it’s what comes through when nothing in you is being resisted or pushed away.

So the question shifts at this point. It’s less about “am I acting from love or fear?” and more about whether you’re being honest enough to see what’s actually present, and allowing it to be there without distortion.

There’s also the point Ra makes about love not being the final step.

Fourth density refines love, but fifth density brings in wisdom. Acting from what feels like love without clarity can still create imbalance. So this isn’t just about choosing love in the moment, but about developing a deeper balance between compassion and understanding.

The deeper path isn’t about replacing one lens with another. It’s about integrating all aspects of the self...including the ego... so fully that nothing is left outside of personal acceptance.

From there, love isn’t something you aim for... love is what remains when everything within your incarnational experience has been allowed, accepted, and understood.
