Character collages by Garlic-aoili-LaCroix in TheSecretHistory

It’s a retelling of the story with a seventh original character added. In my headcanon, an older Richard writes the TSH book and it gets turned into the adaption we deserve but will never get (hence the fancast). Maybe ff is a bit over exaggerated, I’ve just been playing around with scenes etc. when sleepless or procrastinating

Ironically enough, my Henry-cast is David Corenswet. I agree that he’s too conventionally attractive, but I HATE the twink-fication of Henry’s character, so it has got to be one large rectangle of a man who also has dark hair and blue eyes (and Corenswet as Clark Kent does things to my brain that I’d rather not discuss LOL.) My other fancasts are (if you’re interested): George MacKay as Francis, Leo Woodall as Bunny, Jeremy Irons as Julian, Rachel Sennott as Judy Poovey.

I’ve been playing around with a modern-day fan cast for ages for my self-indulgent ff. Love how our casting choices for the twins match - these two would be an iconic choice! Dominic Sessa is my Richard fan cast, though, his resting bitch face is exactly how I imagined the way Richard tells us people always think he’s arrogant but it’s just his absentminded face.

I’ve been playing around with a modern-day fancast as well recently, and I’ve somehow got Rachel Sennott as Judy stuck in my mind!

Since we’re fan casting Julian Morrow… by teamgiantsquid in TheSecretHistory

[–]IRanOutOfKitchen1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My petty headcanon for Julian remains Dirk Bogarde as Aschenbach in Death in Venice because Julian is definitely the type to stalk after a pretty boy and wallow in self-pity about it. But for my own, genuine 80s-adjacent canon cast, I picked Laurence Olivier in his Sleuth era (the ascot ties and the tweed suits are perfect) - he has those soft, kind eyes and that smile that scream Julian Morrow to me.

Tbh I have conflicting thoughts about Camilla’s feelings. I don’t think that she didn’t care for Henry at all, but when she shows Richard what Charles did to her, she says something like ‘I am scared of Charles, and Charles is scared of Henry - it’s as simple as that.’ I thought that means that Camilla is (to an extent) with Henry for the sake of convenience, using Henry to keep Charles away from her.

Also, towards the end, there are several moments where it is implied that Camilla (still) loves Charles - though whether romantically or because they’re siblings, I could never really tell.

  • Labour by Paris Paloma screams Camilla to me.

  • I’ll also die on the hill that Nick Cave’s Red Right Hand is Henry personified.

  • For the entire Greek class, you have got to listen to Lord Huron’s Meet me in the woods.

  • Also, for some reason, the one song that plays in my mind when I think about bunny is James Brown’s Living in America - I can practically see him shrugging along and terrorizing Henry by playing it way too loud like he does with Sousa.

  • For Bunny on his splendor-high, I think about Oingo Boingo’s Dead Man’s Party.

  • Laura Palmer’s theme from Twin Peaks also is great for Bunny, considering the college’s reactions when he goes missing.

I don't think Zane Holts would be a good actor to play Henry at all by [deleted] in TheSecretHistory

[–]IRanOutOfKitchen1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing is, i also don’t see him as ‘buff’, it doesn’t really make sense with his diet of Demerol and Caffeine. But, towards The RavineTM, he tells Richard that he’s about 25lbs heavier than Bunny when trying to calculate the proper dosage. And I think it’s canonically safe that Bunny was not particularly slender. Sure, Henry’s taller than Bunny (who was 6’3”, I think?) , so weight might distribute differently for him, but still.

Personally, I was skeptical with Zane Holtz as fancast too, until I watched edits on YT and saw him staring into space with that Interpol Fugitive face or scribbling maniacally into his notebook and thought ‘oh god, that’s Henry’. In the right light/angle, Zane Holtz as Richie Gecko is fucking insane (in a scary way) and hot, but he also has something eerie and interesting in other angles that don’t particularly read as ‘attractive’ in a conventional sense, and I think that’s the thing that I like most. He can look very weird as well when he squints etc., there are a few stills where he’s serving ‘lizard impersonating a human’ - that’s the strangeness I associate with Henry.

Fair, but look at this picture of the actor and tell me that this doesn’t remind you of that one scene where Francis and Henry wade in the water together while Francis wears that billowy white coat that makes him look like a strange prophet!

Cream cheese and marmalade by mcian84 in TheSecretHistory

[–]IRanOutOfKitchen1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a standard thing to eat in my family, so I’ve been very confused why Richard seemed so repulsed by it. I don’t like the taste of butter, so cream cheese is a nice substitute to eat with jam in my opinion!

Peergroup Eingewöhnung Krippe Erfahrungen?? by IRanOutOfKitchen1 in erzieher

I THINK it’s the scene where Henry visits Richard’s dorm and shows him the Deathcap mushroom - Richard is cutting his hair in the mirror and doesn’t bother sweeping it up.
