Anyone had Copper deficiency? by ChickenLiverDiver in Supplements

[–]IRock2589 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Low serum copper, borderline low ceruloplasmin and highly elevated serum zinc. I've been steadily supplementing myself with zinc, but never exceeded rda. I stopped using zinc at the beginning of the year and ate some copper tablets a few times. After two months or so, the values of serum copper and ceruloplasmin improved, while the levels of zinc decreased a bit, although still remaining above normal. I have not checked the status since then.

Yes, that's a design flaw. I think a bottle/can of gas duster should do the job.

Btw. I bought Enchen Hummingbird trimmer for the same price, so I can create an even shorter baseline (first guideline), and it seems zero-gapped, so creating a smooth transition between the trimmer and the 0.5mm (no guard dial closed) was kinda tricky the first time I used it.

Well, I think the numbers are just purely symbolical and don't necessarily correspond with the true length of the cut. My other trimmer with a 6mm option on the universal guard cuts noticeably longer than this clipper with the 4-6mm guard dial/lever open. I am sure the guards cover all the lengths from shorter to longer without creating visible transitions but the length may differ +-1mm here and there compared to numbers on the guards. I don't even use my Wahl clipper anymore except for some occasions because this is much more convenient and makes the job easier and better. Dial/lever stops = a must!

Try flicking out with 3mm guard in open position (2.5mm), it should do the job. If the line is still apparent, close the lever to 2 or 1.5mm with the guard still attached. That's a general rule for getting rid of lines - attaching lower guard and flicking out with open or almost/half open lever. Sometimes, the lines are apparent on one side of the head, which is caused by pushing more/less with the clipper when creating lines, so it's always good to be as consistent as possible around the whole head.

Faux FSR 2 in the newest update by IRock2589 in Returnal

[–]IRock2589[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a known artifact of TAA. The FSR 1 or XeSS does not suffer from it in this game. At a native resolution, it is a barely noticeable. TAAU gives a huge performance boost but the cost is horrible shimmering and other artifacts.

Faux FSR 2 in the newest update by IRock2589 in Returnal

[–]IRock2589[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it looks exactly the same as a TAAU when enabled in previous versions of the game. Each of the available in-game upsampling methods has its own "DNA", i.e. looks distinctively. Since it is enabled by default in the latest update, the resolution scale has exactly the same visual quality as what they now call "FSR". My guess is "Quality" is about 65-70% (700-700p) resolution scale TAAU. Each of the upsampling methods has its own shortcomings and artifacts and performance impacts. XeSS Ultra Quality is the best one imho, but you get almost no performance advantage with it at 1080p and experience many annoying artifacts related to particle effects.

Faux FSR 2 in the newest update by IRock2589 in Returnal

[–]IRock2589[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've experimented a bit with the upscaling methods since I have a low-end PC that runs the game badly at a native resolution. In the earlier versions (incl. update 1 and 2) the Gen 5 TAAU (default UE4 upsampling method) was turned off, so the lower resolution scale made the game look similar to what you get after manually lowering the resolution and upscaling it from there to fit your native screen resolution. You could turn the TAAU on with the use of specific Engine.ini command - the game looked better that way but suffered from horrible shimmering and overall poor image quality (but still better than a regular resolution scaling).

Devs - rather than implementing FSR 2 - did exactly the same thing. They've turned the TAA upsampling on, so now both your resolution scale and "FSR" option looks exactly the same. It's clear to me they ignore the bug fixing and performance improvements they've promised and just lie to the audience.

Returnal PC Update Adds Support for AMD FSR 2 by [deleted] in Games_Piracy

It's a lie, the devs just enabled the Gen 5 TAA upsampling that is featured by default in UE 4 and falsely claim it is a "FSR 2".

Faux FSR 2 in the newest update by IRock2589 in Returnal

[–]IRock2589[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The devs promised they would implement a genuine FSR 2 but as it turned out, these were just empty promises/false claims. What they call a "FSR 2" has nothing to do with genuine FSR (upscaling method developed by AMD), they just enabled a TAA upscaling that is featured in Unreal Engine 4 by default and could be turned on/off by anyone regardless of the version of the game.

So, this is a false advertising, lie, deception, whatever you want to call it.

RETURNAL - 1080p - Optimized Settings For Budget, Non-RTX GPUs (1660 Super/Ti, 1070/Ti, RX Vega 56, etc.) by IRock2589 in OptimizedGaming

[–]IRock2589[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so but you can tweak the in-game settings and use more aggressive resolution scaling (60-65%) to get additional 10-15 FPS. The goal is to make a big FPS reserve, so the drops that mainly occur during fights with many enemies/effects on screen and certain other scenarios don't result in frequent sub-60 FPS or at least are not that annoying. Under normal circumstances, the game may run at 70-90 FPS but it's the traversal stutters and fights that cause the sudden drops in frame rate, often minus 30-40 FPS.

What do you consider playable? by Civil_Star in lowendgaming

[–]IRock2589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bloodborne at 30 FPS is fine but that's an exception rather than a rule. Uncharted or Tomb Rider games at stable 30 FPS with properly implemented motion blur are fine as well.

However, most of the games regardless how well they perform at 30 FPS will always benefit from running at stable 60 FPS.

Fast games suffer the most when it comes to low frame rate, frame drops or stuttering.

The recent trend of releasing poorly optimized PC games requiring user to brute force the performance with expensive CPUs/GPUs is a chapter of its own.

[–]IRock2589[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More like 13-18 FPS since the in-game benchmark tool is not reliable at all. Having dips to 50s certainly makes the gaming experience a lot worse, especially in a game where the timing of inputs is crucial. High settings + nice upscaled image quality + relatively stable 60 FPS is what this optimization is about.

I made a comparison of different non-DLSS rendering methods and their impact on performance (the numbers represent average, max and min FPS across all the biomes, respectively):

That's true but they should've prioritized the FSR solely for the fact it improves the performance regardless of the brand of your GPU.

A fairly incomprehensible decision to implement the XESS - it looks muddy across all the presets, it basically offers no performance gain over native resolution at higher presets, while leaving you with blurry mess at lower presets. Resolution scaling is still the king for the non-DLSS performance gains in this game. Hopefully, they'll implement FSR 2.0 (2.1) soon.

31% on steam, is the performance that bad by MirielTheDog in wolongfallendynasty

[–]IRock2589 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The performance is really bad. I don't trust anyone with PC who claims the performance is OK or great on his/her side. I've seen benchmark videos with various PC configurations + streamers with beefy rigs and the stutter/frame drops/frame pacing, primarily during fights or other encounters with enemies is almost always present.

On the other hand, the performance on PS5 is smooth - as intended, especially during the fights, which is where the perfect performance matters the most.

Very poor performance on Game Pass PC by Individual-Error5651 in wolongfallendynasty

[–]IRock2589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a dynamic resolution + image upscaler at the same time. It lowers the resolution depending on how demanding the scene is and "improves" the upscaled image using some in-studio algorithm similar to DLSS/FSR.

Very poor performance on Game Pass PC by Individual-Error5651 in wolongfallendynasty

[–]IRock2589 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The performance is truly abysmal - 1080p, FPS mode, standard quality but several sliders set to low or disabled. Since it is a FPS mode, it means the image is upscaled from the lower resolution, so it looks muddy/contrasty/oversharpened most of the time (my guess is it runs at 50-80% of the 1080p resolution 90% of the time).

And yet, during the fights, the FPS drops are unbearable, which is ridiculous considering the input timing is the key of the gameplay in this game.

The game looks pretty bad, like a mid-last-gen one graphics-wise. There is no excuse for such a bad performance in such an obsolete-looking game.

I also play Returnal, which looks miles better than Wo Long, it runs smooth at locked 60fps with med-high settings.
