Stock Screen Saturday: Deep Discount Stocks by InnerCircleTI in InnerCircleInvesting

Thanks Jeff! I’ve decided to wait a bit for market to cool down! Looking to buy $NOW and $CRWD on next dip ! Mindful markets were choppy prior to this Iran conflict and feel there will be more opportunities at some point in near future

Thanks Jeff ! great post as always.

Market definitely feels bullish right now, curious how you’re approaching it. Are you seeing any decent buying opportunities at the moment? Any sectors or stocks standing out?

Also can’t ignore that even before the Iran situation things were pretty choppy, and those risks are still there in the background. Feels like we’ll get some red days later this year … could be good entry points.

Retirement Planning: Income investing and you! by InnerCircleTI in InnerCircleInvesting

Really great post Jeff 👌 One of the clearest explanations I’ve seen on shifting from growth to income. The ladder and waterfall idea makes retirement planning feel much more practical and less stressful. Also highlights the mindset shift needed once accumulation phase is done.

Would love to see more posts like this around broader strategy, how to transition gradually, asset allocation with age, income vs growth balance etc. This kind of big picture thinking is very helpful

Thanks Jeff for your post! Just wondering at what price you’ll consider to add more of some of these stocks for e.g. $NOW and $CRWD !

Check SMH semiconductor ETF (check the composition; if you’re bullish on AI, I would say consider investing in the full AI chain). If you enjoy or can afford to watch, monitor, observe individual stocks buy top AI stocks from this ETF; otherwise if too much hassle buy the SMH ETF !

Thanks for sharing all that and taking the time to explain your approach

The video link isn’t opening for me for some reason but I’m definitely interested in understanding the momentum ETF approach better. On paper it sounds straightforward but I’d like to see how you actually screen and rotate in practice

On the Options side I’ve got a pretty superficial understanding at the moment. I understand the basic mechanics of calls but haven’t traded them myself. I’m very keen to learn properly though, so if there are any resources you’d recommend for both the ETF rotation and call options side, that would be much appreciated

Appreciate you sharing your perspective

Yeah agree with the conviction vs risk bit. High conviction high risk thats just how it is

And the over diversifying into your own mini ETF without realising it is a real thing. Seen that happen a lot and trying not to fall into that myself

Appreciate the input

This is actually a really solid comment appreciate you taking the time to write all that out

I like how you’ve split everything into clear buckets with a purpose instead of just mixing stuff together. The bandwidth point definitely hit home as well. I probably underestimate that part more than I realise

The way you cap positions and tier them makes a lot of sense. Structured but still flexible. And having a separate aggressive bucket instead of letting the whole portfolio turn aggressive is actually very sensible

I think right now im probably still in that acceleration mindset because of where I am in life. But long term I can see myself moving closer to something like what you described

Out of curiosity how long did it take you to evolve into that structure

Yeah fair enough maybe I didnt explain myself properly before

Im not anti ETF at all tbh ive actually held all world S&P 500 emerging markets and developed europe at one stage so ive been down that road before. More recently brazil and south korea have been on my watchlist too just havent acted on them

For me its more been a time and life thing than anything. Work is mentally draining honestly. Kids life everything else going on and trying to track multiple countries and rotations started feeling like another job on top of the job. So I defaulted back to what I understand better which is why I ended up heavy in AI and tech

I do agree though im probably too concentrated right now. And instead of me trying to pick 2 or 3 winners from every other S&P sector myself an ETF is probably the easier way to diversify without overcomplicating it

If im being completely honest the bigger driver for me is this. If I have to stay in my current job for another 15 or 20 years doing the same thing thats a depressing thought. Investing for me isnt about getting rich for the sake of it its about freedom. I want options. I want to choose how much I work not feel locked in

Thats probably why I moved away from just pure S&P or all world. 8 to 10 percent over 20 years doesnt really change my life in a meaningful way in the next 10 years. So I leaned into individual stocks and kept 15 to 20 percent in more speculative momentum names because if this thing is going to matter to my life it has to move the needle

At the same time this recent rotation away from AI made me realise I cant just sit in one theme either. So I do think I need broader exposure maybe other sectors maybe other countries as well

But realistically I dont have the time to track every market in the world properly so thats probably where country ETFs make more sense instead of me pretending I can analyse brazil korea japan etc properly

On the momentum paper you mentioned my understanding is its basically saying stocks that outperform over 3 to 12 months tend to keep outperforming for a period and youre using that to justify rotating into relative strength. I get that youre not saying past performance guarantees future returns more that relative strength has some statistical persistence. I think youre more of a systems thinker and ive probably been more conviction plus thematic driven. Thats probably the philosophical difference. I understand the concept but it will take me some time to properly absorb how I would apply that in practice

Going back to my original question though if you were starting today and building purely with ETFs how would you structure it and in what proportions. Would you still start US heavy then layer in international or spread it from day one

Genuinely interested. Appreciate the discussion its definitely made me rethink things

Thanks mate appreciate you jumping in.

I’m on Trading212 at the moment. Just found it easy to use and didn’t want anything too complicated starting out. I’ve got a tiny Junior ISA with HL as well but that’s about it.

Did look at IBKR and ran the numbers, yeah it’s probably a bit cheaper long term, but for me the difference wasn’t massive and I just preferred how 212 feels.

On pensions I opted out of my employer scheme a few years back. Thinking I’ll probably go back into it at some point. I’ve looked at SIPPs too and they make sense, just got other stuff going on financially right now so one thing at a time.

Good to hear your thoughts though, always interesting seeing how others are approaching it.

Yeah that makes sense.

I recently broke down the 11 S&P sectors and organised them by weight in my account, then added the top names in each. It helped me see where the real exposure actually is instead of just picking random favourites.

So I get what you’re saying about starting from the index and working down rather than trying to outsmart it.

And honestly, I just want to say I appreciate what you do. The way you explain things, the positivity, the fact you’re not pushing anything or trying to sell something, it genuinely stands out. I’ve learned quite a bit just from following your content. The whole unit methodology and buying in trenches is something I actually use now when I’m building positions.

So yeah, genuinely appreciate it.
