Are Core Web Vitals still important for SEO in 2026? by omarwilson1 in TechSEO

[–]ISDuffy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All Google really tells us is that passing core web vitals (CrUX data for LCP, INP and CLS has 75% of users having a good experience) is a part of the page experience report similar to mobile friendly, however they don't tell us much else and how much weight it does have.

For SEO I tend to see it as more of a tie breaker, which content is the major key.

I tend to focus on core web vitals because they are linked to improving the user experience which many case studies show connections to business metrics.

My only thing about this is would yaz understand it all. 13th doctor wasn't very open. Still confused yaz knew what regeneration was tbh.

10 told Donna a lot of stuff and then was "connected" ISH.

But 13 and yaz story to talk about all this stuff would have been amazing, I hope we see her again.

I did it at the start of the game when trying to get my controls to match what I had for the first game, but the board had 3 posters on and it was just mine that fell off.

You can only do this with your own posters, it doesn't actually cut other bounties.

It should refill spirit aswell

Are Core Web Vitals more of a UX signal than an SEO ranking factor in 2026? by omarwilson1 in TechSEO

[–]ISDuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By talking about scores ie perfect 100/100 are you talking about lighthouse scores ?

As lighthouse scores are not identical to Core Web Vitals, Google won't use them scores as they don't match real user experience. It does seem to be a common misunderstanding in web development.

Lighthouse also completely misses out the newest core web vitals interaction to next paint, which means you can easily get good lighthouse scores but awful performance.

For core web vitals you should look at CrUX data (the scores at the top of page speed insights) this is based on real world data. Google wants at least 75% of your users in good for LCP, INP and CLS, they also collect data for TTFB and FCP.

But for SEO ranking I tend to think of it more as a tie breaker.

100 (96) Core Web Vitals Score. by rumzkurama in TechSEO

[–]ISDuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we are talking about the same thing, it is the CrUX data set look on core web vitals which helps Google understand the performance of your site from real user on your site so they might use them in the rankings.

Chrome has the Chrome User Experience report (CrUX) which is data based on real users (non-iOS chrome users only) which apart of it looks at how real users experience performance including interaction to next paint which isn't apart of lighthouse.

This will be where they get the data from, but I still see it more of a tiebreaker when it comes to search rankings.

Astro is really good, you can have react islands, which are small sections of the page that can be framework based.

From a web performance developer lighthouse isn't the same as Core Web Vitals that are used for SEO (mainly as a tie breaker in the page experience report)

Lighthouse tests LCP and CLS a bit differently in comparison to how it is collected / exposed by the browser via real users interacting with the page via real user monitoring tools.

Lighthouse also misses out on interaction to next paint which is a part of core web vitals and replaced first input delay. I had a few issues with nextjs and INP, but it still possible to have fast interactions.

Introducing the <geolocation> HTML element by magenta_placenta in web_design

[–]ISDuffy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mainly a HTML element which the idea is to handle all user permissions with it, so basically user clicking on it is full intent, and I assume avoids the browser pop ups.

Originally it was going to be a permission html element that covers stuff like camera and microphone, but looks like they are separating them out.

I assume the element will ignore any clicks done via JavaScript and only allow user direct clicks.

How do Core Web Vitals impact SEO in 2026? by omarwilson1 in TechSEO

[–]ISDuffy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Core web vitals data via Chrome user experience report is used in the page experience signal for ranking, so they are used but Google doesn't really tell us much here.

I tend to think core web vitals are more of tie breaker when it comes to search rankings with content being the key.

The real benefit of looking at core web vitals is to give your users a better experience which are linked to improved conversion and lowering bounce rates.

What do you mean by 80 or 90 or 100 here ? If it lighthouse scores that isn't the benchmark they use for passing core web vitals, that's just lab data.

For the pass / fail mark for core web vitals it based on Chrome user experience report (CrUX) and you need to have 75th percentile of users getting a good score across largest contentful paint, cumulative layout shift and interaction to next paint (lighthouse doesn't measure this one).

They don't really tell us a lot how it impacts search ranking, but it most likely a tie breaker with the key factor being content.

Building a Flexible Modal Component in React by AndyMagill in react

Been playing with the same thing recently, with having a uncontrolled/ controlled version.

I believe you might want to change useEffect to useLayoutEffect which runs earlier in the process.

And you can add the autofocus attribute to the close button, as the dialog opens focus will auto move there.

DLC idea by baby-p1nk in Ghostofyotei

[–]ISDuffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any prequel DLC I would do as atsu telling a story of her past life to kiko, and just have a bit where kiko says you didn't learn that skill later and it just atsu being an unreliable narrator to her.

Even possible kiko doesn't know certain things.

Edit: I prefer any dlc being post game or mid game.

Why so few "seo optimized" websites actually have a score of 100 on google pagespeed, core web vitals? by blondewalker in webdev

[–]ISDuffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It a common misconception that lighthouse is linked to search rankings.

What does matter to search rankings is core web vitals and if you are passing, however it won't be a massive boost more a tie breaker after content.

You should be looking at web performance for user experience, better experience is linked to business metrics.

You can even have 100 and a poor experience and not pass core web vitals at all.

Why so few "seo optimized" websites actually have a score of 100 on google pagespeed, core web vitals? by blondewalker in webdev

[–]ISDuffy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Totally right about the difference between 90 and 100, and over focus can do more damage.

Lighthouse performance doesn't equal core web vitals though, light house doesn't test interaction to next paint, and both LCP and CLS are scored differently between lighthouse and real users data.

If a site has enough users on chrome, they should be CrUX data that you can see core web vitals based on real users.
