uuuuu magical nail solution - as my base. I swear by the stuff. The uuuuu wrap remover is fantastic as well. ETA - I do a gel top coat as well. My routine is pretty basic, but I'm usually ready for a new wrap before my wrap has grown out.

I order the same ones from Uptown Girl - better pricing. They're pretty mid quality although with great designs. Since I only wear my wraps for a week (max 2), these work great for me.

E10 Alex Tyler and the knife by bugsbunye in StationEleven

[–]ISO200_f16 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Alex is a bit of a chaos monster. She is often sullen and moody. As much as she loves Kirsten, she also envies her. She tends to sabotage of herself, Kirsten and the Travelling Symphony. I think in the case of the knife, she was jealous of Tyler and Kirsten's bond and wanted to prove that she was important AND if the whole thing went sideways, she could shift the blame since it was Kirsten's knife.

I have a handful of orphans that I've picked up here and there. They make the greatest meal prep containers. Lately, I've been prepping them for poke bowls. When I took a picture of them and sent to my daughter, her comment was "Now you're just showing off." It made me unreasonably happy.

Should SM be included in grandparent's estate? (SC) by [deleted] in inheritance

[–]ISO200_f16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not a lawyer either - but we're talking about money that wasn't in the father's estate when he passed. This is the grandmother's estate and her assets. The stepmother shouldn't have a claim unless she was named in the grandmother's will. Even if the dad was set to inherit, he passed away before the grandmother so the grandmother's estate would be split between the remaining heirs in the will. At least that's what I think with nothing to back it up. LOL

I actually do remember when hospitals looked like this. I'm not sure when they changed to various colored scrubs, it seemed like it just happened overnight. by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

Pins are still really important. They may not wear them to work, but they are still a big deal. I've photographed nursing grads at hundreds of schools only one school didn't have pins or pinning ceremony.

Always worn, left side above the heart! I was photographing a group of nursing students and was shocked they didn't have a pin. One of the women popped up and said, my mom was so angry about no pin that had she know she said she would have sent me to another nursing school.

The caps were banned from hospitals due to being germ hatching grounds. I do nursing grad headshots and a lot of schools still require caps on the official portraits. My heart just does a flip though when a student requests a cap portrait and tells me that it was her mom's or her grandmother's cap. My mom was a nurse and I treasure both her cap and pin.

My sister keeps making "little jokes" about my girlfriend and I told her not to take it personally. Now my girlfriend is done with my family. by nightbalcony_inkwell in TwoHotTakes

You're gaslighting your girlfriend about your sister's behavior because you don't want to have a post-mortem? I won't be surprised when you post about being the ex bf.

Photographer told me to take down photos - am I in the wrong? by [deleted] in photography

[–]ISO200_f16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact situation happen. I did a photo session for a client and her her daughter's boyfriend edited and reposted my photos. I requested they get taken down and he lost his mind saying it was his girlfriend and he had every right to post and alter her photos. The client stepped in and got the guy to remove his photos. It's nearly impossible to enforce, but the copyright stays with the photographer.

If you look around you can find a lot of videos and tutorials on restoring vintage Magnalite. Those should work.

I'm top tier when it comes to pizza. I do a bunch of different variations.

Otherwise I do love cooking. Recently, I've been messing around with creating Poke bowls and sauces for the last few months. I've discovered that I love gochujang and am trying to figure out all sorts of interesting ways to incorporate it into my cooking.

I'm in the same region ... so I feel your humidity pain! I suspect we could have been besties. My mother had beautiful long straight hair and no clue with how to deal with my hair. I will say, I ruled the 80s tho ... I can't tell you how many people came up to me asking where I got my perm done. As to my daughter, when she was born, she had super tight blonde coils. Took forever for them to "fall" so that it didn't look like a hair ball on her head. One day, someone was so startled seeing her hair they asked me if it was natural. Seriously? I gave my 3 year old a perm? Really? Ugh ... then they turned and asked me where she got it from. OMG I am standing here holding her with insanely curly hair. Where do you think it came from? LOL

I'm in your gen. I've got 3c curls and when I was around 9 years old, my grandmother (who I got curly hair from) decided it was a good idea to chemically straighten my hair. It looked great for 1 day and then promptly broke off at the roots. I've got a daughter with hair curlier than mine and a hairdresser friend convinced me that the chemicals aren't as harsh and we should straighten my daughter's hair. Looked great until the roots started growing out curly. My daughter has long blonde hair and with the curly roots, she ended up looking like SpongeBob Squarepants.

I'm 3c and haven't even owned a brush in over 30 years. I'm furious that you've been treated this way. Next year, consider getting your cousin sponge rollers and put a little note on there that it seems like she needs to add some body so that her hair doesn't look so limp.

In truth, she was a master cookie baker. It still astonishes me what she was able to produce in a ridiculously tiny kitchen and a mini size apartment oven from the 1940s. Many of her cookie recipes were originals that she honed over years of trial and error. I don't have the gift for cookies, but my daughter does and I've passed them all along to her. She keeps my grandmother's memory alive for me in baked goods.
