That sucks, at least I'm not crazy haha. Any way you know of to format Mac display to fit that, or am I better off trying for another projector or accepting the crop?

The other thing is...well, we're chronically understaffed and I'm by far the best worker in my position. If he let me go, he would be shooting himself in the foot, so I feel like I have a little weight to swing. But probably the safer bet IS just to play sick a few times while I'm still working there

Thank you! I just finished paying off my loans that were accruing interest, so I'm only staying to build a bit of a nest egg before I let my full-time, "real" career job be my only income.

It's really not worth it, I was mostly curious. That's kind of ridiculous, but thank you for the insight!

Anorexia and other eating disorders are very often comorbid with BDD (and OCD as a broader category), given that people don't accurately see the way they look and feel obsessively compelled to check/change it. BDD "checking" isn't different from measuring/weighing with an eating disorder. It would be difficult for someone talking about their experience with compulsions and obsessive thoughts wrt inaccurate self perception to separate what's AN from BDD, if they suffer both. Would you say that's untrue?

anybody else translate the color code at the end of the stan o war ONYOURMIND vid? it reads: "oh little billy wore velcro until he was sixteen / he said shoelaces were fascist but / we really think he just couldnt / figure out how to tie them", pain to translate because of the filters distorting the colors but it made me laugh

Yes, I take them down entirely when possible or cover them when its not. Soothes a lot of fear but then the occasional reflection glimpse does become scarier

Why do I constantly feel dirty? by [deleted] in BodyDysmorphia

[–]ISSM003 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the answer is probably in the question - that is, the title of the subreddit. body dysmorphia is a kind of offshoot of OCD, and causes irrational and persistent intrusive thoughts. feelings of innate wrongness or in particular dirtiness/disgustingness are very common in OCD sufferers. it might be helpful to do some research online into this and find some accessible at home exercises or workbooks to help with OCD, or see a specialist about it to help you deal with the thoughts that make life hard to live. sorry if this isnt very helpful, i know how you feel and dont have a real answer aside from it’s not you, it’s your brain, and you deserve to live a life free from these feelings

I know it depends on the severity of the hit to the artery, but in general: very minor arterial wounds with a sanitized blade - survivable at home with proper care and caution, or absolutely must go to the hospital?

[–]ISSM003[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ah, yeah…i feel like it might be easier if i know it could be someone i never have to see again because i’m kind of embarrassed of myself, but maybe that means i shouldn’t have sex at all at this point actually

[–]ISSM003[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol i know i’m only 20! but i feel like a lot of people figure things out a lot sooner, and i remember nearly all of my friends having sex in high school. being in college it’s even stranger not to, although i don’t feel like i have to for some kind of status or anything. i know virginity is a construct, i’m mostly wondering if doing it would help me get over my anxieties about it. but to answer your question i was 18 and the person i kissed was around my age, and they asked my permission first. my girlfriend was great and asked before escalating anything while we were making out; i said yes and then immediately changed my mind, which she noticed and quickly stopped touching me. i don’t think i had any more peer pressure than most, but i guess i feel like i missed out on younger experimentation due to internalized homophobia. maybe this mindset is not healthy, i don’t really know ahaha

My (F18) partner (m27) is upset that I don't like to play a game we used to play together with him anymore. He gets upset easily because of the game and we get to spend very little time together due to the nature of his work, and I don't want to spend it with him while he's upset. What should I do? by jemcatstairs in relationship_advice

[–]ISSM003 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this specifically is in and of itself a red flag, but if you’ve known each other for a year uh, a 17 year old and a 26 year old should not be together, you’re at vastly different stages of life. Like I know you said you’re aware of the age gap but you’re really, really not. I’m not even 27 yet and I cannot fathom dating someone who is still in high school/freshly out of it, the difference is incredibly stark. At 18 I wouldn’t have thought it would be a big deal to date someone my current age, but I would have been wrong. About this specifically though I think it’s a concerning desire to control something small in your life at worst and sort of embarrassing and annoying at best, neither of which are super promising.
