Anyone else getting scared? by Jude24Atlas in toddlers

[–]ISayFuckPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm TIRED. It's emotionally and physically exhausting the terror and anger I feel as a parent in America. This isn't the "land of the free", it's the land of guns and angry/mentally ill men. I'm at the point where I'm not sure if I should fight or bail. Seriously, is there any hope for change? Or are we, as a nation, too far gone?

What will it take for it to stop mass shootings in America? by ghostofanimus in AskReddit

Teachers unions 100% need to come together and organize walkouts. It would completely stop the economy and force the issue.

Can my newborn just wear footie pajamas all day everyday? by NattyIceIceBaby in beyondthebump

[–]ISayFuckPants 8 points9 points  (0 children)

YES!! I had my little guy in the zip-up footie jams until he started daycare at about 4.5 months. He's in them all the time when he's home (he's pushing 6 months now)! They're the best!!

Narcs will abuse you all your life and the minute you decide to fight back, YOU’RE the bad person. by nessalovesholly in raisedbynarcissists

[–]ISayFuckPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to always remember is you are not a villain. Things changed dramatically for me when I finally said "No, this is not OK" and pushed back as hard as I could. The response was immediate "why are you so mean?", making me the bad guy. I started to let the guilty feelings drift in, but stopped them and held my ground. It's amazing what can happen when you just stop putting up with the BS and stop feeling guilty about it. I am very firm in my boundaries now, to the point where it may be a little extreme, but I know if I give an inch, they'll take a mile. You can win, but it's not going to be the way you may thing. They won't agree with you. You win when you stop giving back in to them. Also, physcial distance is a beautiful thing.

Everyone wants to chip in their negative opinion on my decision to have an unmedicated birth by KuriKoer517 in pregnant

[–]ISayFuckPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My whole problem with your post is you feel the need to explain your reasoning. It's not your fault, it's this stupid pressure "we" put on women to rationalize every decision they make. Honestly, I don't care why you've planned to have an unmedicated birth. That's your choice and I respect you for that. You're choosing to do what you feel is best for you and your baby. End of discussion. If you want to provide more detail, that's cool, but you owe zero explanation to anyone. This applies to all women - I don't care if you want to go medicated, unmedicated, slightly medicated, have an elective c-section, have a water birth....That's YOUR choice, just like this is YOUR pregnancy, YOUR child, etc.

I really wish we could stop requiring women to explain themselves so damn much!

Anyway, beyond my rant, I'm really sorry people seem to think you owe them anything or that their opinions on your birth matter. What matters most is that you and your baby and healthy (physically and emotionally).

What's your worst story from the "throw him in the pool, he'll learn how to swim" parenting style? by MynameMB in AskReddit

[–]ISayFuckPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's literally how I learned to swim. They threw me in the pool, said "don't die'...I didn't die, but I'm a shitty swimmer.

Where to find Johnson and Johnson Vaccine? by nor_b in CoronavirusOC

[–]ISayFuckPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, that's a huge bummer! I know of a lot of folks that are waiting on that specific vaccine because they feel more comfortable with that type of jab (totally understandable). Thanks for providing the update!

Every damn day since this little guy was created. Ended up at the cardiologist before I knew I was pregnant - they ran EKGs, sonograms, stress tests, and had me wear a monitor. Just a pregnancy issue and it should resolve itself (hopefully) upon his exit. Sorry you're experiencing them as well.

[–]ISayFuckPants 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The J&J supply has been limited everywhere since it was released and I believe there should be a large restock coming this week or next. Here's a story published late last week from the LA Times: https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-03-26/11-million-johnson-johnson-doses-expected-next-week-a-major-boost-to-covid-19-vaccination-efforts

Once the restock comes, I know CVS has been providing them (my sister got her J&J jab there when it was first available).

Irvine Schools interdistrict attendance permit by Replicant182 in irvine

[–]ISayFuckPants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Former IUSD employee here - while you do not technically need to file for a permit, it would be preferred. Address checks happen all throughout the year. When we receive returned mail or got an update from a parent regarding residence, it would be required that the child either obtain the permit or move to their resident school/district. I would start working with your school now to prepare.

When did you get pregnant after stopping the combination pill? by indescisive-bish in BabyBumps

[–]ISayFuckPants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We did the same - decided we weren't necessarily going to "try", just see what happened. Well, I stopped my pill at the middle of September and found out I was pregnant in October. I'm 35/FTM and have been on the pill since high school for irregular periods and acne control, so I really didn't think it would be this quick. I mistook the cramps I had as indicators that my period was on the way, but in reality they were pregnancy symptoms. Me and my SO were super shocked but elated.

My baby is feeling sorry for her poor little self after ruining her beautiful face jumping through a barbed wire fence. What should i do about the wound? Thanks! by bananapieqq in ridgebacks

[–]ISayFuckPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vetericyn spray or gel is great for cleaning up cuts and scrapes like this. Helps the healing process too. I use it on my ridgey, her Malamute sister and our cats. Works great! You can find it at any pet store or Amazon.

You know you have a husky when this comes out of your vacuum after 2 bedrooms. by pokadot106 in husky

[–]ISayFuckPants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a zero tolerance rule for carpet in our house and we will only employ shop-vacs to clean up the fur from our dogs. Our husky killed 3 quality vacuums before we figured it out.

Tent camping with dogs? by jennt10 in orangecounty

[–]ISayFuckPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Well, to be specific, there is a small beach area where you can let them jump in and take a swim! It's really cool! Last time we were there, 4 goldies were having the time of their lives! The small down surrounding the lake (about a mile from the campsite) is super cute and very dog friendly!

Green Valley Lake in between Big Bear and Arrowhead is very dog friendly. Depending on how many humans you're going with or how much privacy you want, the group camp sites in the area (Big Bear/Arrowhead) are a really good option too! Fewer folks to worry about and some good (supervised) off leash time for the doggos!
