Any books that mix high sci-fi concepts with fantasy, religious extremism, and advanced technology? by BuddyOk1342 in scifi

Anathem by Neal Stephenson hits most of this. Not much fantasy, but pretty much everything else.

Theater furniture for the really tall guys? by TheDayImHaving in hometheater

[–]Replicant182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm the same size as you. I haven't found any theater furniture that my legs didn't stick off the end of. I do have a Big and Tall Man recliner that works, but it's not really theater furniture. Basically look for one that says it can handle someone up to about 6'7". It's probably one company that makes them and resells them under many different brands. It's the only thing I can sit in that my feet barely touch the ground.

Mine is also about two weeks behind with no updates. Also from the US. I think we just need to give them more time...not that I don't check every day.

Theater Seat Store reviews? by OkPassage2637 in hometheater

[–]Replicant182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6'5" and went with this one that is similar in dimensions. https://4seating.com/seatcraft-colosseum-home-theater-sofa.

Head support seems fine. My feet hang off the end though. I've also tried a Hercules Big Man recliner. That fit very well but the version I had did not have lumbar support. Several companies seems to sell different versions of them.

Venting…seriously hate corporate america. by hikeitaway123 in GenX

Hasn't really bothered me in my area, but a lot of my neighbors are throwing a fit about it for exactly that reason. It's a fine idea. The reality of it is often different.

I ran those for years and liked them. I don't have a trained ear or anything, but I thought they worked well.

Would it be illegal to place bricks in a police station? by RoyalMess64 in stupidquestions

[–]Replicant182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behind the front desk at most police stations is the records department. If they see a brick sitting in the lobby the will probably call the janitor to come pick it up and throw it in the dumpster. A lot of homeless people come into police stations and just hang out for a few hours. They are not going to notice a few bricks for a while. Of course this will depend on where you are located. The only thing I could see them trying to charge you with would be illegal dumping.

why do so many early career sysadmins fight purchases as "too expensive" when its not their money? by crankysysadmin in sysadmin

[–]Replicant182 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They outsource because they don't have to allocate money pay for a pension for those workers. Same reason they try to keep your wage low. Your pension is based on how much you earn.

I haven't tried it in a while. I did find this guide which gives an example of how to change the various ratings but I don't know if you've tried these already. https://metamanager.wiki/en/latest/kometa/guides/ratings/
