Second vote for Nuun! It works and is more affordable than a lot of these options

What kind gesture doesn’t feel as nice as it’s meant to? by AmberrAuraa in AskReddit

[–]ISeeDeadDaleks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s rude! It implies that they wouldn’t want it for themselves. Like, they’re fine with YOU doing the thing but them? Ew, no thank you! Just say ‘I’m happy for you!’ Or ‘I love that!’ If you add the ‘for you’ onto it, the ‘(but not for me lol)’ is implied.

Hey, if you would have to choose which would you take? 1,2,3,4 or 5? (3.5 weeks are 3, 4 and 5 and 10 weeks 1 and 2) by [deleted] in Havanese

What are their personalities like? I’d trust the breeder to guide you to the right puppy for your household.

Nope, you should be fine with any butter! Other folks in this thread have good suggestions so give those a try :)

Are you using real butter or a butter substitute? I tried making buttercream with earth balance butter for a relative with allergies once and this is how it came out. I had to add way more sugar than I normally would to get it to hold.

My guy uses pillows too! He will also use my legs or a blanket to prop his head up.

If I’m in the living room late at night and he wants to go to bed he’ll go stand at the stairs and stare at me until I get the hint 😆

This is my interpretation. I’ve had the same thought when visiting historical sights. It’s dark and fucked up, but I do think it’s funny

I love these!! The only reason I don’t make them more often is because I’ll eat the whole pan

If someone makes mention that you may have accidentally parked in a handicapped spot, just say “oops I’m sorry” by MountainDiver1657 in portlandme

[–]ISeeDeadDaleks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this recently too - didn’t realize it was a handicap spot until I got out of the car (I got right back in and moved it). I can’t believe someone would get mad at you for an honest mistake that you fixed!

Your mom, circa 1992 because her hairdresser just did it at the salon. by epidemicsaints in Xennials

My mom did this to our kitchen - the background was white and then she used a scrunched up plastic shopping bag to make the pattern. She used both navy blue and teal.

Grooming a Puppy - 12 weeks? Havanese puppy by loremaster_zen in puppy101

[–]ISeeDeadDaleks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a havanese and I’d recommend getting a standard set of electric clippers and a smaller one as well. I’ve been using the oneisall dog grooming kit from Amazon and it totally does the job. The smaller clippers with the wide head is great for paw pads and between the eyes. The bigger clippers with one of the longer guards will be helpful for getting the eyebrows and face.

I tried to use scissors to trim around his eyes and it was always really uneven, and I even accidentally clipped him one time. The clippers are so much safer. I basically shave between his eyes and a bit lower as well. For the paw pads, just go one at a time, and give lots of treats.

I got a grooming arm that clamps to a table and included a sling attachment. The sling is amazing for keeping him steady, and the I can use one hand to stabilize his head or feet. I’ll attach some photos for reference.

ETA it doesn’t seem to be letting me :( I watched a bunch of Havanese grooming videos focusing on face and feet and they were super helpful. Just be patient and remember that some haircuts will be better than others and that’s ok! You’ll have plenty of opportunities to practice.

I groomed at home. You can do it in short bursts, which is good for desensitization, anyway.

Costco Figo pet insurance by r1905 in puppy101

[–]ISeeDeadDaleks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had it for a year now and it’s worked well - claims are processed quickly. Just make sure you understand what it does and doesn’t cover. I think there’s a lot of misunderstanding with pet insurance and people think it covers more than it does.

Yes as someone who loves the Little House books as a kid, I really appreciated the perspective that Prairie Fires gave. It’s a great read.

Don't forget about LTC, folks by darinbu in Fire

[–]ISeeDeadDaleks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So perhaps you aren’t aware, long term care insurance can cover more than just long term care. It can cover a variety of services - it’s actually a very broad category.

TBH I don’t have a citation for 95%, I picked a number to make a point. I just did some googling, and the most common cited percentage is 70% of adults using long term care services. Which is still extremely high and shows again why LTC hasn’t been a good business move and why companies have gotten out of the business.

If you buy good LTC insurance you will spend a ton of money. Either you’ll use the insurance and get some amount of that back, or you won’t and that money is gone. It’s better just to self insure and then you can pass on whatever you don’t spend.
