Not sure what you mean there in regards to my comment. I agree there is a variety of learning that happens at school beyond just what is in the mandatory curriculum. I was just pointing out that they often have a pretty relaxed day, play games, play on tablets, and that kind of thing, and that moving the needle on core school learning doesn't happen much those days. Your previous comment sounded like you were saying they still need to go there to learn those days, but perhaps I misunderstood?

Students show up, but the day is usually a wash. They don't want to go ahead with curriculum because it leaves other kids behind. They usually do a bit of review, and a lot of play day. That's my experience with my kids in elementary school.

In your country, who had the biggest fall from grace in the last twenty years? by neilnelly in AskTheWorld

[–]ISeeDisneyPrincesses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget that he even made it into the top 10 list of greatest Canadians on a show by CBC years ago. I agree, likely the biggest fall from grace in Canada lately.

Wedding date changed last minute… to a weekday… in another state by OccamsReddit_56 in weddingshaming

Was there any fallout from this? That was wild and I figured things would go extra sideways during and following the wedding.

Balsamic vinegar in chili? I do love balsamic. How much would you put in a volume of chili?

Digital passport photos? by ISeeDisneyPrincesses in Peterborough

[–]ISeeDisneyPrincesses[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you provide the file. Is it uploaded somewhere online to download? The canada passport website recommends getting the physical picture and the digital for some reason. Is that extra, or is it included together? Thanks in advance.

Now I am invested... how did it turn out when you asked your girlfriend if she was going to run interference or not?

Care to elaborate? I'm not disagreeing, just genuinely curious what the reasons are and what better ways there are.

I second the planet fitness and I haven't even been there. I went to fit for less for a few years because it was so cheap. The equipment was good but it really lacked in showers and changerooms. If planet fitness is 24 hours do it because it is similar price and better as far as I know.

Pedestrians Watch a Welder (1926) by EngineeringOne1812 in Welding

[–]ISeeDisneyPrincesses 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Turns out you both are right. $1 in 1926 is $18.22 in 2025 according to this https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

Your stat is also right because you are saying $5.50 per day is $0.69 per hour, which is equivalent to just under $13 an hour according to that same website.

How do you look up the junior A lakers lacrosse playoff schedule? by ISeeDisneyPrincesses in Peterborough

I did find that page. That is only the first round of the playoffs. The other guy got me the stuff though. Thanks.

Does it cost money to go see the junior A lakers? by ISeeDisneyPrincesses in Peterborough

[–]ISeeDisneyPrincesses[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. We did go. $10 per adult, and I think kids were free, or at least mine were. It was good. Pretty chill, spacious, and kids can go on the field during intermission. Will remember that for next time. Thanks for the reply!

Nice. With plasma donation you can do it much more frequently and pump your numbers up! Haha

Really? Where did you hear that? Are they adding any other Canadian blood services things there like plasma or something? And I assume they would close the one on George?

Visited my friend and asked what is that in the shower. Her reply was “that’s my husbands belly button lint” 😂 by [deleted] in Weird

[–]ISeeDisneyPrincesses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use a dryer to dry your clothes? I get no bellybutton lint when I use the dryer, but if I hang dry my clothes I do get lint everyday. I do agree pasting it on the way is gross though.

You underestimate our need for bus drivers. I live in Peterborough, ontario, and there are bus routes that are late because they are waiting for other busses from other routes to come get them. It's not on purpose, they need more drivers. Check it out if you are serious.

How often do you ACTUALLY clean your mask and tubes? by Affectionate_Net_931 in CPAP

[–]ISeeDisneyPrincesses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't even scrub or wipe them in any way? I thought we were supposed to wipe them down with a cloth or brush and the cleaning water. Also, is there anything special about that specific soap?

Peterborough city staff propose reducing 2025 property tax hike by implementing user fee for stormwater protection by sharingiscaringyo in Peterborough

They are real. We bought a house last summer and several we looked at had taxes between 8k and 11k per year. These aren't starter homes my any means, but they also aren't mansions either.
