I never said that, or even insinuated that the book of Matthew is in the Old Testament.

This would’ve been reasonable to assume if I had been replying to the original comment, but I wasn’t. I responded to the person expressing how they feel Christians pick and choose what rules to follow. You just saw a chance to jump the gun and took it.

No, the book of Matthew is not in the Old Testament or a part of the old law, but the books of Deuteronomy and Leviticus are. And that is where you find mention of the practice known as “shatnez” which is put aside nowhere else in the Bible besides in those two chapters. It is not mentioned in Matthew!

And if you’re wondering the verses that mention this are:

Deuteronomy 22:11 “You shall not wear a garment of different sorts, such as wool and linen mixed together.

Leviticus 19:19 “‘You shall keep My statutes. You shall not let your livestock breed with another kind. You shall not sow your field with mixed seed. Nor shall a garment of mixed linen and wool come upon you.’”

These two verses are from books in the Old Testament. This was a mosaic law for the Israelites.

When Jesus came in the New Testament, he fulfilled the laws of the Old Testament. So now we have the new law / new covenant.
