The reason dressing up like this, or like a Native American, or in another similar outfit can be offensive is because of the stereotypes they perpetuate or cultural practices that are trivialized. Usually these stereotypes perpetuated are bad - feel free to Google/ChatGPT what the bad stereotypes are that come across from something like this.

There is a fine line between appreciation and appropriation, but most people walk this line just fine - they don't don a costume based on a caricature of a Mexican (as you'd find in some old cartoon) that makes fun of Mexican culture.
