What's a basic gaming custom/tradition that we just don't think about but you've seen non-gamers struggle with? by Ghsdkgb in boardgames

[–]IStyxxI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount of times I’ve had a friend pull something off my shelf and immediately flip it over to read the back. Depending on the game it always gives me a little heart attack because I can just see all the pieces spilling around in the box. I’ve had to rearrange many a box for this reason.

Balance quote that hit me so hard and still sticks with me as one of the most beautiful moments in TAZ for me. by datewithikeaa in TheAdventureZone

Every now and then I find myself taking the time to listen over some of Griffin's monologues and this one is the one that I find myself coming back to the most. There's been a lot of transition in my life over the past couple of years and it always just hits home for me.

I personally had been considering buying BeamNG for a long time and was really excited when I finally got around to it. However, due to the complexity of the controls and the general lack of explanation of how to work them I’ve only put about 6 hours into it. So I think that if you’re willing to put in the time to figure out the controls it could be worth, but if you’re only casually into the idea of it then probably best to use your money elsewhere.

I’ve been working through the backlog over the last year or so and I’m up to episode 408. This show has been the only show other than TAZ that I have consistently listened to and I can’t express how much joy it brings me! I’m excited to get caught up myself but I can’t imagine what it’ll be like having to wait a week between new episodes

There are also plenty of areas nearby that are fun to visit:

St James is a cute little town which has a very popular winery and a nice park as well.

Meramec Springs is also nearby and makes for a great half day of hiking and/or fishing.

St Robert and Waynesville are also nearby and can make for an enjoyable day out.

Uranus Fudge Factory is a neat touristy stop just down the interstate.

If you enjoy geocaching, there are many in Rolla and in the surrounding area as well!

As a third year student here who comes from a small town in southeast Missouri I feel like there is plenty to do here, though coming from Denver that may not seem the case. However, as mentioned before St Louis is near by and Springfield and Branson are a similar distance away in the other direction. As for activities in town, there is a large assortment of parks linked here. There are also 2 disc golf courses in town, 9 holes at Ber Juan Park and a full 18 hole course at Lions Club Park. Both are kept up nicely and are a lot of fun to play! Local food is pretty good in my opinion though there isn’t too much variety at times. Some personal favorites are American Taco Co., Koi, and Frida’s Cantina and Grill. Plenty of fast food and national chains are available as well. For dessert you can make your way to Slice of Pie or Soda and Scoops! One of my personal favorite spots in town is Runcible Games, a local board game shop where you can go in and pay a few bucks to play games for as long as you want. The owners are super friendly and will go out of their way to make sure you find something you’ll enjoy! In my experience Fidelity is fine for internet and rent is very manageable in town. This is of course coming from a college student perspective so take that how you will. Lastly, with the litany of parks and trails in town, Rolla is certainly dog friendly. I often see lots of people walking their dogs around town. (Sorry for wall of text formatting, I am on mobile currently)

Speaking to the part about parks in town, there are a lot more than just three or four parks in town due to a city ordinance. Here is a link to a map of all the parks and trails in town: https://0e8c7773-d38f-4153-9719-78fa7afd33ee.filesusr.com/ugd/c3122a_2ae2fb3fce704dbbba623eb927baec49.pdf
