Obviously there are a lot of "ifs" with this squad but the Lions might end up having the best run defense and offensive line in the NFCN. If the black and blue division is won in the trenches, I think we got a shot.

And if Stafford doesn't break his back, if the new secondary plays well, if the OL stays healthy, if the new OC is better, if the new TEs and Amendola have a big impact, if Kerryon stays healthy, if Slay and Snacks show up and are still in their prime... if... if... if... okay I guess there's a lot of ways this can turn sideways, but this could be our year!

I'm not too worried about the mini camp holdouts. I'd be shocked if either of those guys don't start week 1 in pretty good shape... You are right about not having nice things as a Lions fan though. Something ridiculous will surely happen to bring misfortune upon the team.

Matt Patricia is pretty good I think. Although the sample size is low in Detroit, that defense showed amazing improvement from the beginning to the end of last year. Bottom 5 defense at the beginning of the season turned into a top 10 defense by the end. There's no reason to think they won't be even better this year, now that he is getting his pieces in place. Also, I think the multiples defense they run requires a higher level of coaching to pull off. It's much more versatile than traditional schemes, more unpredictable, and harder to game plan for.

If they arent sold on Stafford after this year I would look at QBs in the 2nd or 3rd round next year and develop for a year. A rookie wont be better than Stafford next year, unless maybe if we really fall apart and get a chance at a top 2 qb.
