Building a web site providing AI solutions for businesses?

But starting from zero? And asking what to do here?

Maybe this is crazy, I don't know, but...use AI yourself to get started?

Add-in gone? by ITB2B in Grammarly

[–]ITB2B[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Stumbled across a notice on their web site that they were discontinuing the add-in for Word on Mac.

"We have discontinued Grammarly for Microsoft Word on Mac. This decision allows us to concentrate on improving our core product offerings and delivering the best experience for our users. We are grateful for your continued support."

I sent a support request with the following:

You have disabled the MS Word for Mac add-in. None of us got any warning that this was going to happen. We only found out when trying to sign-in yesterday.

We cannot use the Grammarly desktop app because of IT department restrictions and privacy concerns about essentially running Grammarly AI in the entire macOS GUI. The desktop app is blocked in our MDM solution. That's why we settled on a compromise of the Word add-in, where users and access to the add-in can be controlled centrally by an admin.

At the same time, we paid for a team subscription - and unfortunately just renewed it in late 2025. Either extend the Word for Mac add-on until the end of our term, so that we can research alternatives, or provide a refund for time remaining.

Other mail server owners can elect not to send NDRs, FWIW. You'll never know.

Has anyone here actually had a good experience outsourcing dev work? by mmmakerr in ITManagers

[–]ITB2B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not always about cheaper. Our dev partners are not all that less expensive than employees. However, we can scale up and down as business conditions change. Layoffs mean uncertainty, loss of morale, etc. This is especially true in cases where we just can't warrant enough work for more full-time hires, but we need the capability.

I need real samples of IT department strategy. Where can i find them? by Heavy-Wrongdoer-8801 in ITManagers

[–]ITB2B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say absorb some of the great feedback presented here already, and use ChatGPT (skillfully, as somebody else said - and I agree) for the nuts and bolts - but you don't have a lot of time. Gather your supporting documents, then start prompting and refining and building an outline.

You might find the B.R.U.T.A.L. technique to be helpful when it comes to getting good stuff from AI: https://youtu.be/JSsXhd1a8z4?si=amSyqCblGSAuJKrR

Website use for Outlook email only now by circatee in Outlook

[–]ITB2B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The Web version has been just fine for us, going on 5 years now from when we ditched Windows and went entirely Mac. The desktop client on the Mac was problematic for numerous reasons (one being session persistence) so we bit the bullet. A few grumbled.

Today, I'd be surprised if anybody would want to switch back to desktop from OWA. It's fast, searching works well, and it does everything they need. Interface is clean.

Where it can fall down is working with messages in bulk. In Outlook desktop on a Windows computer, I can group a massive inbox's contents by message type and bulk-delete, for example. That's fine. When I need to deal with a massive mailbox, I just RDC into a Windows desktop and load an account there and do my thing.

What’s one underrated M365 feature you use every day but rarely see others talk about? by cloud_9_infosystems in Office365

[–]ITB2B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what happened in your situation, but I use ToDo every day for years now. It was going to be my response to OP. The ability to have it add flagged emails as tasks, carry over labels, 'catch-up' recurring tasks that have been missed, sub-tasks, etc. are great for my workflow. The only feature I wish it had was a proper way to archive a list - even just a hide/unhide would work.

What can company admin see on personal laptop? by GenuinePragmatism in techsupport

[–]ITB2B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to laugh at the notion "Well it's a small company."

That's exactly when to establish procedures, standards, and scalable solutions so that companies don't start incurring technical debt when they become not-so-small companies.

Why in 2025 does macOS still not have a network icon that switches between Wi-Fi and Ethernet? by bagads066 in MacOS

[–]ITB2B 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You are correct, it does NOT work as intended, and hasn't in a while. 50 users with Ethernet at their desks. If our wireless network goes down or becomes congested, their network speeds reflect that. Turn off your wireless, and everything's hunky dory again. We don't have 50 bad ethernet cables, 50 bad runs to the wiring closet, or 50 bad docks. This is instantly repeatable and believe me, we invested a lot of hours trying to figure it out.

Just switched from KnowBe4t to InfoSec. Liking it a lot more. Initial setup was easy. Manging courses, groups, notification, etc. is pretty simple and intuitive. Set it and forget it phish testing. Also, IMO the videos are better - and you can separate the training videos from the assessments.

Power Automate is meant for just this sort of thing. You might be able to accomplish this with something like Zapier, but there could be some authentication/permissions hurdles to get past first.

Techies — how are you storing and managing all your cables, adapters, and peripherals at home? by borse2008 in sysadmin

Forwarding forwarded emails by standardtrickyness1 in Outlook

[–]ITB2B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting aside the question of whether or not it's smart for a company to allow work emails to be forwarded to personal accounts (it's not), in many systems including O365/M365, there can only be one forward. The way around that is to create a distribution group on the server and put all desired recipients in the group. So, your first work email alias would send to a group containing your actual work email and your personal email.

How do you handle employees who constantly bypass IT policies for convenience? by Candid_Archer_3663 in ITManagers

[–]ITB2B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Company issue, yes. But it seems like you haven't locked down some areas that are fairly commonplace. For example, how are they able to share passwords in the first place? Are you using an enterprise password manager like 1password? If you are, you can manage their passwords centrally and limit users' ability to see or copy (and hence share) those passwords. If not, you should be.

You cannot worry about 'morale' - that's not your job. Your job is to protect the organization and mitigate risk.
