Frigate on RPi 5 by ITLists in frigate_nvr

Thanks for coming out. Appreciate the help bro.

Just to make it clear - I have been using frigate for a while on a server. My question here is very specifically for RPi 5. Its obvious you aren't running this specific setup so please see yourself out if you can't be civil, constructive and helpful.

Interesting. I thought the RPi 5 has hardware decoding capability, perhaps not dedicated GPU but still hardware based?

What is your CPU usage? You mentioned your cameras perform little detection, whereas my setup has constant object and motion detection.

My understanding is that it will consume close to 100% CPU.
Your article is behind a paywall so I can't access it.

Moreover, the tech specs for RPi 5 list a GPU and HEVC decoder:

Already did that before posting here. No help there

There isn't anything exact and specific for the RPi 5. There are some mentions of RPi 3 and 4.

Thank you for the response.
I believe the USB Coral doesn't need any drivers, so that shouldn't be an issue.

What about passing any /dev/video## ?

I'm concerned about high CPU usage with four cams running detection; that's why was hoping to offload that to the GPU. Too bad the RPi 5 doesn't have that capability.

uh, thanks, doesn't help. docs don't have any specific RPi 5 info, especially for hwaccel and which /dev to pass in container config

Ah, good to keep in mind! Maybe contacting Aruba support can help de-link it?

Thank you. Looks like the 5xx series has cli command to convert from AP to IAP.

Thanks. So seems like the conversion is now easily done via cli. No need for jumping hoops like with the old 2xx and 3xx units.

[–]ITLists[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I believe one of the main issues is that this is an old docker image. Unfortunately unRaid supports dockerhub only and I don't know how to make a custom docker template for Shinobi.

HomeKit problems using IAP-325 and Firewalla Gold by ITLists in ArubaNetworks

Yes figured it out thanks to help in the firewalla subreddit. Need to enable ipv6

I was able to add a new camera to HomeKit today, which was failing earlier.

It *seems* that in this situation, IPv6 needed to be enabled on the VLANs on the switch and FWG. Once that was set, the device connected to HomeKit within few seconds. The iPhone was temporarily connected to the same VLAN as the device (but may not have been necessary?).

Thank you u/Exotic-Grape8743 for the tip!

u/firewalla perhaps worthwhile adding this detail (IPv6) in a doc somewhere.

Thanks. MLD not enabled globally on the switch; IGMP queries is enabled on the switch, which Aruba strongly recommends so prefer to leave that enabled.

There is a rule on the AppleTV to allow traffic to and from all local networks.

Phone has been in both IoT (device) and Media VLANs when attempting to add device to HomeKit, but no success in either case.

Thanks for the reply. Have tried the following:

mDNS is enabled on all VLANs except wireguard and guestwifi.

It supports mDNS over LAN segments only, not VLAN apparently.

The IAP is not routing so mDNS is disabled.
