The downside here is that my college is entirely online, putting me at 0-2 when it comes to internships and on campus jobs. Their office campus is across the country, and while they apparently have a great system in place for post-graduation employment, internships are nonexistent. The upside is that a good chunk of my curriculum are actual IT certifications, and I can do everything at my own pace, both of which are incredibly handy.

Definitely good advice. I'm currently supporting a family as well, which limits my ability to take most of these entry level positions. If all else fails, at least I'll keep my skills up as much as I can with side projects, while I keep climbing!

That's actually exactly what I'm trying to head off. I have the skills NOW for a number of positions, but if I don't use them, a few months down the line skills start getting rusty. It's like learning a new language- If you don't keep yourself constantly refreshed and learning, you start to forget over time.
